one thing I am willing to bet is true...

the new guys are going to be getting the worst schedules
nights, weekends, holidays

it's only fair to the ones that have earned the better schedules by seniority

I still think that 4 years of military is a good start

I was the same way, I hated school and all I wanted to do when I was young was be a rock star.. college wasn't for me

after about a year of living the dead broke musician life (and having grown up middle class and used to eating) I joined the Navy because they could guarantee schooling/job
I did electronics, it was a way to have my butt forced into an education

I didn't love it, but, in hindsight, 4 years went by fast and when I got out, I moved to Austin, was able to get a decent job for the state doing computer stuff, was able to eat/live and play music and be able to buy NICE equipment...

Fast forward to now (that was the early 90s) and I have had numerous good jobs, my own company and make good money and have a wonderful family and lots of friends....

4 years seems like a LONG time when you are 20, but, it's really not
