An idea for the future

Post by baldeagle »

I was reading the thank Mr. Cotton thread when I saw this:
MAFWG wrote:As the father of a college student who turns 21 in 6 weeks, I want to thank you, Mr. Cotton. Because of the Campus Carry bill, my son has decided to get his CHL this summer. I also used this bill to get him interested in the state legislature and he watched the vote yesterday with me. He now has a better understanding of just how screwed up government is and why silly laws get passed. I particularly enjoyed his rather pithy comments about Dr. Allen's debating "skills."
This gives me an idea. All of the legislative sessions are videotaped and stored on the legislative site. They are all publicly available. Why not take some of the most priceless moments to create videos that expose some of these idiots for the idiots that they are?

Imagine Dr. Allen, for example, running for reelection, and her opponent airs an ad (or "we" do) that shows how incredibly dishonest or stupid she is. Contrast her actual words, spoken on the Senate floor, with the facts. Nobody watches legislative sessions except political geeks. If those who don't watch were exposed to their Senator's or Representative's stupidity or perfidy, it just might make a difference on election day.

For example, show a video of a politician praising concealed carry and then voting against campus carry. Or making outlandish statements like "kids will get guns" juxtaposed with the author explaining patiently that no one under 21 can get a license.

My next votes will be largely decided based on the shenanigans that took place on SB19. I think the clips around SB19, SB11, & HB910 should be required viewing for any civics class in the state. I've learned more about Texas government from those 3 bills then any High School or College government class I ever took.

Cmon Andy, be nice. You’re better than that. ;-)

It is a good idea baldeagle but if it is placed on the CHL forum we might not get the viewers we want. A facebook page might be better with the rest of us sending as many people there as possible.
God Bless America, and please hurry.

Actually, I think it's a great idea. I've seen clips like you're talking about and I think they are effective.

It's a good idea, but I'd bet lots of folks are nursing a political hangover right now.

Give it a week or so. Maybe come up with a short example?
