The speed in which they cleared this may make it viable. A 3 day filibuster is far different than a 12 hour...

If it's moving this fast, it might not have a chance to get filibustered. Unless someone is determined enough to talk for a day or two. Perhaps that is the plan to get it through. I guess we'll see.

Maybe it will take a priority somehow and get done.
Gov. Abbott tweeted today that he didn't think a special session would be needed, thought all the major stuff would get done.
2ndA bills were part of the major stuff, just a few weeks back.

You may be onto something! I don't know what the record is for filibustering, but if we make it 24+ hours I don't see it happening.

Oh there are plenty with blood on them from this fiasco. OC and campus carry could have been done weeks ago, look to see who decided to wait until the last minute to finally pick up a bill passed by the other chamber.

Given Charles' answer to someone's question about it being possible that both the Huffines and Dutton amendment being dumped, and since the conf committee is restricted to considering only conflicting language, I'm guessing they consider each whole amendment (not just the order of words in a single sentence) to be in conflict with each other, and therefore in their powers to drop them both, thus making the bills identical. They only need three votes from each chamber's conference committee members to pass or endorse or put forward the committee report. All in favor? six ayes, four nays, the report is filed.

The 25 vote thing was in the House (I know you know that), but I think the House is much different than the Senate.
The Senate the person basically has to violate the rules 3 times. No restroom or food etc. or walk away willingly.

Check other thread. Amendment remains. So the speed was really just because there was nothing more that could be done. Objectionable language remains. no point in going to committee other than trying to delay an up or down vote.
