Then it dies there!

The problem isn't the conference, all that will happen will be that the Huffines amendment gets stripped. The problem is the Ellis filibuster on the conference report.

Darned if you do, darned if you don't.

If it goes to conference, it has the possibility of a filibuster. If it doesn't go to conference, Abbott might decide not to sign it.

And now we see why the Huffines/Dutton amendments were poison pills.

I would think that Abbott would have made that known already if that was his thought.

If I understand the law, as long as nobody in a public area can see the weapon, you're correct.
That is incorrect.

Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or[/b]

PERIOD. It doesn't say if Nancy Worrywort sees it and calls the police.

Don't think Abbot would do that, this is the same alarm that was wailing 20 years ago with concealed carry and it turned out to be a false alarm. This amendment is already in effect the amendment is just a reminder of the law.

It's a sad day in America when the 4th Amendment is controversial. Then again, most Republicans in Congress (besides Rand Paul) support Obama's illegal NSA spying.

Thank you (I think). Any policeman that can't figure out a way to engage a suspicious subject without demanding papers, and either affirm to negate his suspicions needs more training (I THINK that's what you were alluding to).

I bet they are trying to get them to not concur and go to conference with out them having to say they voted against HB910.

Unfortunately, HB3884 didn't make it. :-(
