SB 496 is on now. 8 bills to go.
Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
I don't believe it matters. This is the 2nd reading of SB 11. It requires a 3rd reading to "pass". Since the rules weren't suspended, the 3rd reading would be tomorrow which is too late.TVegas wrote:What time is the deadline?
I don't know if they can vote to suspend the rules again today.

I apologize for not knowing, but why is tomorrow too late?txyaloo wrote:I don't believe it matters. This is the 2nd reading of SB 11. It requires a 3rd reading to "pass". Since the rules weren't suspended, the 3rd reading would be tomorrow which is too late.TVegas wrote:What time is the deadline?

Where is 910 in this picture? It's on that list of "eligible" bills at http://www.legis.state.tx.us/tlodocs/84 ... 150526.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and it's the very last one on the list.

Should hopefully come up tomorrow when they go through that calendar again.Ruark wrote:I apologize for not knowing, but why is tomorrow too late?txyaloo wrote:I don't believe it matters. OK, so if they do happen to get to the 2nd reading today, then there's still a glimmer of hope, or are we all just going in the wind...?

I'm sure the school folks say the same thing when they spend 3 hours discussing gun bills (like the Senate did last week)Ruark wrote:They're really bogging down on SB496.

I imagine the postponed bills will take longer, since they were probably postponed for a reason.Ruark wrote:They're really bogging down on SB496.

Really the only hope is if Gov calls for special session and decides to include on agenda. Other than that Straus is once again successful in killing CC like he is every session. Gun Owners need to unite and get the new guard Rs voted in office and eventually over come the old guard and get a Speaker who will uphold our civil rights.TexasJohnBoy wrote:OK, so if they do happen to get to the 2nd reading today, then there's still a glimmer of hope, or are we all just going in the wind...?

There's a previous discussion of a deal struck to reach a House floor vote on SB11...TexasJohnBoy wrote:OK, so if they do happen to get to the 2nd reading today, then there's still a glimmer of hope, or are we all just going in the wind...?
I'd say yes.... there's more than just a glimmer. Not a given, but, far from dead.
