Chancellor Sharp on Campus Carry
http://www.texastribune.org/2015/05/07/ ... ohn-sharp/ Happens between 21:38 and 27:15. He reiterates the same thing he said in his letter. He articulates the common sense argument that there is no reason that a responsible CHL off campus would somehow become dangerous on campus.

It would be nice to see him follow through on his statement by changing, or causing others to change, current university policy to permit any CHL holder to carry in TAMU premises.

I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

Re: Chancellor Sharp on Campus Carry
I'm very happy to hear that Sharp trusts me to be a sane, law-abiding individual on and off of campus. I'm very confident campus carry will pass at this point, but it's too bad I won't be around at A&M by then.
Thanks and Gig 'em!

My girlfriend will be at UH Central through the end of the year. It would be great to see CC pass in time for her to at least be able to carry in the fall.

While this would be nice, it's not within his power to do. It's the law and the legislature needs to fix it. I work on a campus and I'm weary of the weak minded sheep speaking lies and fantasy on this matter.ELB wrote:It would be nice to see him follow through on his statement by changing, or causing others to change, current university policy to permit any CHL holder to carry in TAMU premises.
To me, this is the most important gun related topic to be addressed this session. Yes, this includes open carry. What good is open carry if I'm still not permitted to protect myself. This needs to pass the House. I know how the legislature works and guns are a hot topic this session. If something else takes its place next session in two years people will forget and move on.

The law allows for universities to give permission.txcharvel wrote:While this would be nice, it's not within his power to do.
