I watched it tonight. It really was very good. It reminded me too that almost anywhere you go in France there is a village memorial to their WW1 war dead. Poor France, whatever the base causes, had had TWO devastating wars roll over her in one century, just 20years apart.

And go back another hundred and she is busy stomping all over everyone else around, or trying to.

Wow! What an amazing film. And what terrifying information. It's hard to believe the death and destruction that was wrought in that war. Just profoundly stunning. Thanks for making me aware of it.

Very interesting stuff. My paternal grandfather was there and the few photos he had were primarily about his function in the US Army, which was supplying fresh water to the troops and carrying away the results of eating and drinking.

I thank you Annoyed Man for the link , I needed to be refreshed on the 'reality' of Mr Ayers. I have through perseverance managed to avoid watching him debate or give opinion for many years . My daughter goes to college in a few years and I fear for her . Are we still calling these folks intellectuals ? They use to be considered the lunatic fringe if I remember correctly . Aww well I'm probably just too old and out of the loop but I know where Mr Ayers can put his ideas of .................change .

I wanted to say thanks for the rec on this documentary. My kids and I watched it at the end of our WWI studies and really enjoyed it. A related movie you might want to look into is Beneath Hill 60. The story revolves around the tunnelers that set the explosives beneath hill 60. I watched it, and thought it was very good. Not for the kids though. It's available on Netflix DVD.
