Martinez is a pain in the backside. If I were a rep and he wanted to pass a bill to declare that water is wet, I'd vote no just to screw with him.

Right. It's nothing new and the experience of both the speaker and parliamentarian is extensive in dealing with these things.Scott B. wrote:Don't know about popcorn, may need a bottle of tums.
Point of Order fun. Hopefully the chair and rules folks are ready for all of this. Don't think there's any surprise at this tactic.
Since it's only mid-April, many of Reps against the bill are struggling for ways to build log jams.
Life is good.

Attendance in the galley is quite sparse for a bill that is supposed to be so controversial.

Straus seems to be making a sincere effort to get this to a vote. Hopefully, he and the rules gurus are able to manage the obstacles that are being thrown out there.
Not applauding Straus at this point by no means but am acknowledging he does seem to be giving it a fair chance to get to a vote.

These "anti bill" Reps also need to stay aware of the "what goes around, comes around" slogan.

Martinez Fisher reminds me of the nagging ex-wife I'm so glad I never had. My first wife is my only, and ever shall be.
But if I start to stray I'm going to remember Martinez Fisher, and with respect to the esteemed gentleman from the great city of San Antonio, I'm going to invest heavily in Valentine's Day flowers.
No need to pound Rule 4 into my head. Nossir.

Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer's given (and I believe legal) name is Ferdinand Frank Fischer, III. I have no idea why he goes by Trey Martinez Fischer.

Is it my imagination or is because the House has more members, that there seems to be more "loose cannons" in the House chamber than in the Senate?

Not liking how long this is taking.

More members, smaller districts, shorter terms. It all plays into it.K5GU wrote:Is it my imagination or is because the House has more members, that there seems to be more "loose cannons" in the House chamber than in the Senate?

I was just thinking amendment 3 was bad enough. Can't wait to see 4. NOTCharles L. Cotton wrote:We can thank OCT/OCTC/Grisham/Watkins for Nevarez Amendment 3.
