Facebook - Talking about concealed carry & EDC

#1

Post by stephenn »

I am currently in "The Waiting Room" for my CHL but I LIKED the Facebook pages of 2 of the guns I own. One of them is a very common single stack 9mm and most of the posts are by owners showing their EDC or talking about how they carry concealed.

When the plastic finally comes, It is my intention that only my wife knows that I am carrying. I definitely don't want all of my "friends" on FB to know.

Thoughts?

If you don't want people to know something, don't put it on FB. If you don't want people to think something is true, don't hint about it on FB. If you don't want people to make some assumptions on guesses about you on FB, don't bring it up on FB at all.

That is a good policy.

Yeah, Facebook is your enemy, I would not post anything on Facebook you would not want a future employer or anyone like that to know. Just my 2 cents.

I have posted some of my 'pro gun" thoughts on FB but nothing that indicates I'm a CHL. Largely (maybe always) these posts are in regards to a political issue such as Campus Carry. Sometimes, they are idiots who should not be allowed to own guns and why I think they are irresponsible. People can probably assume I am a CHL, but it's never said.

Additionally, I don't post vacation pics when I'm on vacation, traveling for business, etc. It's no one's business when I am out of town.

:iagree: x4. Though I use facebook, it is limited - mostly family and church stuff. But we need to realize that almost none of the tech companies are our friends. Google, Apple, Facebook, Microsoft, etc.. are all pretty much anti gun and most lean hard left politically. And all of them collect a lot of personal data. The government only wishes they could do surveillance as well as Google, Apple and Facebook.

Limited FB provides some privacy?

Perhaps though "The Vast Machine" can't be avoided, we're all so continuously surveilled it doesn't really matter. So, go all out and use the so-called (gag) social media to the max because we're under so much scrutiny you may as well.

Use a credit card. Privacy? Bwahaa ha ha!

Come here and post or anywhere on the net. Same.

Cameras at every intersection.

The list of privacy intrusion goes on and on...

So, why not use FB, twitting, etc.

You're contained in the net anyway - as HRC would say: what difference does it make?

Me, I avoid FB, twitting etc. because for some reason they make me shudder.

My FB page is locked and only friends can rad the content. Well, except for big brother I'm sure. However, while there is some general gun discussion I do not talk about MY guns at all.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

I refuse to use FB at all. My wife does but heavily limits what she posts. If I have something to say to someone I'll call them, or maybe send an email if it's work related. I don't have any interest to post personal info for the world, including big brother. Same goes for any of the other so called social network sites. A couple of forums like this one is about my limit.

:iagree: I don't do FB, Twitter, MySpace, UTube, or anything else. The extent of my 'social media' is right here.

My wife uses FB, but only to pull off recipes. :???: Sometimes they are  But sometimes they are :ack: :smilelol5:

Just use descretion of course when posting, show your support of the 2nd amendment & show the example of a responsible gun owner having fun with his hobby, interest or even his/her profession..
