Do you know what this is?
I know it's not a 1911, but I thought Longtooth and some others might like to see it:
Can you guys ID it?

You are correct!G.C.Montgomery wrote:1902 Sporting in .38ACP...I'm guessing since the only 1902 Military I've ever seen had a lanyard hoop.
Colt 1902 Sporting, .38 ACP. Left the factory in 1907. My Dad bought it from the owners widow when he was a teenager.

Also, the Military version had a slide lock on the left side, as well as a square butt.

Maybe it was the angle when the picture was taken. but that "lanyard hook" looks a lot like a magazine release, before they moved it up on the handle in later designs...mr fixit wrote:You are correct!G.C.Montgomery wrote:1902 Sporting in .38ACP...I'm guessing since the only 1902 Military I've ever seen had a lanyard hoop.

I don't see much difference between the 1900 and the 1902 then...
Same style cut of the hard leather grips on the two versions...
Still, that is a fine collectors piece! Lucky!!!

I knew there were many on the board that are antique military collectors.
I love to look at them but know very little & really enjoy learning.
Thanks for the thread & thinking of me.
I really did enjoy the ride.
