retaliation
This is a long story...so read if you want to, but there is a question at the end.
I lived in Dallas for a number of years. Before that, I lived in some other ghettos as well. One was in Las Vegas. I've seen lots of things and I have never really been afraid of what would happen to me if I had to throw down on someone.
In the Dallas house, I bought a really nice little 1920's cottage. Unfortunately it was next door to El Savadorians that thought they ruled our country. It was nice an peaceful for a while until the owner of the house decided to start drinking again and have all of his illegal buddies over for parties.
So imagine this...it starts up on Thursday night and seriously goes until Monday night until about 3am. They would park a pickup truck in the backyard and open the doors, crank up the tejano music so loud that it was distorted and drink beer, scream, sing, run chainsaws, AYAYAYAYAYAI!!!, burn bonfires in the backyard... I could hear it as if it was happening inside of my home. After asking them to turn it down once, they advised me that I could move if I didn't like it.
After a while I started calling the police all the time when this would happen. One night after this, they came knocking on my front door after midnight. I didn't answer, but I had my shotgun close by. VERY close.
Then, after calling the police numerous times, they saw me out walking my dog and wanted to talk. To make a long story short...they threatened to kill me for calling the cops on them all the time. I decided at that point...after only a year and a half, to sell the house. It was on the M streets in Dallas, so I ended up making money on it, believe it or not.
So great...I'm outta there. So then I decide it would be a good idea to move to Bedford. I have friends here...family is close by in Southlake. Nice, quiet suburban neighborhood. A bedroom community. Bought my house and my woman and I were sitting on the back porch talking. We both said *sighhhhhh* peace and quiet. Literally at that moment...we hear rap music coming from next door. That was in October.
So now, we are next door to even more undesirables. They have parties with loud rap music at least every other day. This includes weekends, weeknights. No one works. Loud rap music blasts from the backyard every day. So when I come home from busting my butt all day, I can't even relax in the backyard. I can't go into my backyard and play with my dog without hearing loud rap music. I have called the police numerous times. The first time, which was at about 11:30pm, they came knocking on my door accusing me of calling the cops on them. That was last fall.
So I know that they know that I'm calling. There are other houses all around, but I've even spoken to some of the other neighbors about this. They're all scared of them, so won't call the police. And they are scary people. They have tons of family and friends. Ghetto cruisers are parked in front of my house every day. I called the police tonight, at about 9:45pm because, by God, I have to get up and work tomorrow! I can hear all of this in my bedroom. I can even quote you the lyrics to the music they're listening to...from my BEDROOM.
This is an otherwise peaceful, quiet neighborhood except for them. I've heard many people describing horror stories about dealing with people like this and after calling the cops get the daylights beat out of them or worse. I know some of you are LEOs and probably have to think about this stuff a lot. What do you do about retaliation? What do I do about my wife that has to go out to her car in the morning and walk in when she gets home? This is unreal that I live in an upper middle class neighborhood and am dealing with this stuff again. Yes, I have talked to the local PD. I have spoken with detectives. I have done everything I know how to do, but it will not stop.
One of my friends told me I should sell the house and move again. I'm not rich. If I was, I would have already moved. I'm exasperated. I don't know what to do anymore. This is twice in two years. I'm about to go insane. Maybe I should move. I shouldn't have to, but I don't think this will ever stop.

What price do you put on your peace of mind and the safety of your loved ones? I'd move - - - maybe you can turn a buck on this one too.

Doubtful. About turning a profit anyway. That's what one of my friends says. I just hate that people can move here from other countries and get away with this ....MoJo wrote:What price do you put on your peace of mind and the safety of your loved ones? I am sure Bedford has noise restrictions as well as time limits for this activity were I live very close to Bedford no noise before 8:00am and after 9 or 10:00pm I forget the correct time for sure but keep calling then in for excessive noise. If they keep it up call them in and insist they be fined for it every time the LEO have to come. Ask the LEO to remind them about noise time limits and restrictions.
The LEO will do what is within their legal realm to help you if that doesn't work go to Bedford city council meeting and complain demand they take action on the noisy law breakers!

Nah, police were out here tonight and just told them to shut the music off. Everyone is still out in the pool at this hour 11:12pm. I've come to realize after this has happened twice, that the police really can't stop it. I guess that's what freedom is all about.Dougmyers5 wrote:I am sure Bedford has noise restrictions as well as time limits for this activity were I live very close to Bedford no noise before 8:00am and after 9 or 10:00pm I forget the correct time for sure but keep calling then in for excessive noise. Start copying down license plate numbers, and get a subscription to publicdata.com. See if any of those cars belong to anyone that's wanted.
I vaguely recall a story about someone that did that, and helped the PD net a few arrests. It's an idea at least.

There seems to be an absolute rapid decline in the respectability in people these days...Present company excluded...
There is no respect for peoples privacy, their property or opinion...
Just yesterday, the wife and I were running to the grocery store to pick up a few things for the week...I've lived in the nieghborhood for just about 38 years...I know a few people, and know what belongs and what appears to be passing through...I am all for folks taking drives and scoping out the nieghborhood, because I believe people should be free to do so...
We live next to a main drag that bisects through the middle of our part of the subdivision, and we take that to another street that runs to the grocery store...On the way, just as we are passing in front of the Catholic church in our "hood"...I noticed a car pulled over on the other side of the road with the door open...??? hmmmmm... A rather frumpy looking hispanic woman was walking up to a nieghbors house (their chainlink fence-line) and she was picking some pretty blooms or bulbs/fruit of some sort off a substantial tree/schrub inside that fenceline...
Now to make a long story short (right!), I kinda took offence at that, but since the wife was with me I was told to just let it go...
I mean its one thing to be driving or passing by someone elses property and noticing something nice...But to me, I have always held to the belief if that is a truth, telling someone that they have something nice, and asking someone if they could have a sample of that something (in this case) is a more nieghborly thing to do, if you want to do anything at all...
I believe this is a sign of the times, and when you allow just a little taste of things without really earning those things, it becomes an addiction, and addictions lead to further errosions of decency and lawlessness, and disrespect for others in any capacity...
And when these social deficiencies are challenged or questioned, you are the one branded as the "troublemaker" or social outcast...
I'm not sure there will ever be a time where people will say enough is enough, because we that might be able to be examples, and leaders in our communities will be leaving for more rural and isolated regions of the country...
hehehe, So call me a hypocrite, as soon as we can we will be heading for the hills!!! The sooner I can put Houston in my rear-view mirror the better...I know I am an awful person for occasionally announcing this inevitability and the reasoning behind it...But its a truth, and one I feel very comfortable with...
Its just the little things like this that build up and reinforce my resolve...

Oh...And as far as loud, disrespectful nieghbors go...
What has been done to address that by calling the law on them is the correct thing to do...
People who take offence at that action, and start intimidating the people who live around them are slugs and cowards and they should be the ones to be run off...
I am one to not take very kindly to idle threats, yet I also know there is not much you can do about that legally...
So if someone were to make a stupid statement like "I'm going to kill you!"...
I just smile, and say to them, "So let me get this straight, because I just don't want to misunderstand you on this issue...You say you are going to kill me?"
At which point regardless of their answer to my question back to them...I turn and walk away...Go about my business...I want them to know, regardles of how intelligent they are...That is not my concern...That I do not fear the next decision they make...
Yes, inside I am outraged, I feel a desire to escalate, to just get it over with...But you will never know it by looking at it...That is a true sign of maturity and confidence that challenges someone of lesser constitution who should know better than to carry the situation any further...
Remember what we do in this forum and out in the world is the most definitive form of expression there is...You have the ability and can certainly take a human life...With this stance, you have just lobbed an easy and very clear choice to someone else to make...
Its really that easy...

Yeah, but isn't that where the confrontation and 2X4 incident happened? Or have you moved on since then? I'm considering moving out into the country, but I've even heard horror stories about that...hoss4570 wrote:Thats why I live out in the country.....................![]()

I hear you. For some reason, people just put up with it. I don't understand it. I'm seriously considering selling and moving again. This time, it will be to at least 2 or more acres of land. Even if I have jerk neighbors then, I will have a buffer zone between me and them...I'm not sure there will ever be a time where people will say enough is enough, because we that might be able to be examples, and leaders in our communities will be leaving for more rural and isolated regions of the country...
