CHL to THL?

CHL to THL?
Not very earth shattering, but a random thought occurred while reading the latest TSRA newsletter. If SB17 becomes law, will the proper term for our Concealed Handgun License evolve, at least in common usage, from "CHL" to "THL", for Texas Handgun License?

It's in the act; Handgun Licence.
In reality, I suspect CHL will live on for a while as people get used to it and I think THL might well become the preferred acronym, just because only two letters will feel wrong after all these years of three for CHL.

My understanding is that it need to pass out of House committee, pass the House, and then by signed by the governor.

Re: CHL to THL?
I don't see any reason why CHL should change to something else. SB 17 is only adding an activity that can be done when a person successfully applies for and receives their CHL. Sort of like if HB 308 passes, we wouldn't change CHL to CHL-LMP (Concealed Handgun License - Lots More Places).
Opinions expressed are subject to change without notice.

Some of us old farts will probably never change. To me, committees still have chairmen regardless of gender, not chairpersons. In fact, I rather enjoy watching people squirm when I say "madam chairman."Gaidheal wrote:It's in the act; Handgun Licence.

Re: CHL to THL?
CHL = Constitutional Handgun License :-)
oh, wait..Constitutional and License in the same sentence constitutes an oxymoron.

Re: CHL to THL?
Officially... according to the new law what will be scrolled across the top of the license itself will be: License to Carry a Handgun.
So... LCH instead of CHL.
Like Charles said... most of us will stick to CHL.

Even more importantly, will http://www.texas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;chlforum.com become http://www.texas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;thlforum.com or http://www.texas" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;lchforum.Com or something else?VViper wrote:Not very earth shattering, but a random thought occurred while reading the latest TSRA newsletter.
