When RSOs fail...

Wow. I trust the match was stopped until safety could get reworked. Were the "no shoot" targets the ones with the X's? I think I might have wanted to find a roll of masking tape. If you gotta be a target, best to be a no shoot target.

I saw this a few minutes ago, myself. All I can say is wow! This is why EVERYONE present is reminded that they can call a cease-fire at any time. Whoever sees the unsafe condition first needs to speak up.

Yes, the RSO screwed up big time, and thank God it didn't cost a man his life. But what kind of feckless idiots walks onto a live range and starts picking up brass, when it is obvious that there's a match going on? The RSO was negligent, but the guy who wandered onto a hot range makes it very hard to refute Darwin.

I was expecting to see a discharge after the SO had called "Range is clear...". Then as I watched the video, I saw the guy downrange. That is really scary.

Glad the guy downrange was noticed and everything stopped. It appears that many of the initial targets were more lateral than downrange, with the backstop being the side berms. That probably helped a lot in this case. If most everything had been more downrange in relation to the shooter, the guy at the end could very easily have been hit via a shootthrough on a target.

I had to watch it twice and I still for the life of me can't figure why the guy was back there mulling around. There is gunfire going off like crazy with the muzzle pointed in his direction I don't care how good his hearing protection is. A couple rounds even kicked up rocks and dust on the far side of him. Why the heck he wasn't face down on the dirt screaming "CEASE FIRE!" and the top of his lungs I can't figure.

It reminds me of the time I took my youngest son to the golf course on a Sunday afternoon to get 9 holes in. We were hooked up with a couple of other guys. when we got to the green everyone marked their ball with coin. My son didn't realize what was going on and started picking them up as he exclaimed, "look at all the money." Fortunately the guys thought is was funny, so laughed it off and we carried on.
