Cool futuristic "video game" or tragedy waiting to happen?
How easy would it be to mistake that "barrel" accessory for the real thing in the hands of a quick-moving "gamer"?

Only a matter time. It might even be an LEO that is surprised by one of these gamers, who doesn't know there's an LEO nearby.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

Sorry, looks pretty cool to me. And looks a LOT more like people taking pictures than using a gun.

It does look cool, but the way they are sneaking around and coming out from behind cover will probably create a very bad situation at some point in time.ScooterSissy wrote:Sorry, looks pretty cool to me. And looks a LOT more like people taking pictures than using a gun.

Easy way to break your phone. Virtual Reality is growing by leaps and bounds, even then it might just be the next in home 3d, by that i mean useless tech that everyone has for some reason but no one uses. Augmented reality is still decades away

It looks more like a camera than a gun, but running around concentrating on it instead of what's going on around got a couple of people in the video terminated, and could lead to something similar in real life.
Right after Anthony Edwards did "Gotcha" in 1985 it became kind of a cult thing to have "street" paintball, and we had more than one traffic incident where kids were concentrating on their opponent almost to the exclusion of everything else, and once a NY State Capital Police officer drew on a kid who came out from behind a column pointing a gun. The cop was a friend of mine and remained shaken by the incident even though he recognized (eventually) the gun to be an airgun and did not pull the trigger, but he was "that close."

The man and woman are "playing" in an urban environment.
Not at the beach or a park, but in a public, urban environment.
And to look at them, you'd think they're adults.
Perhaps, letting grown children continue to live at home, among other things, helps create a "Peter Pan" type "kidult", that is, they're not really adults except in age...
These "kidults" would probably feel embarrassed about their play behavior in public if they ever figure out how ridiculously childish they are...
P.S. Kidult is a term I borrowed from a website that mocks this type behavior.

I've seen people take pictures for years, and have yet to hear of someone dying from it.jmra wrote:A lot of things are cool until someone dies.ScooterSissy wrote:Sorry, looks pretty cool to me. And looks a LOT more like people taking pictures than using a gun.
I think the idea that this may be mistaken for a gun is heightened by us knowing what they're doing, and seeing their screen. Observers (including police) won't see that. They'll see kids (and maybe some adults) taking pictures of each other.
Maybe they should paint the lens device bright orange...

This is a pretty cool device in my opinion.ScooterSissy wrote:Sorry, looks pretty cool to me. And looks a LOT more like people taking pictures than using a gun.
I think if there is a problem, it will be more because people are using these out in stores or shopping centers and running into people. Someone might run into traffic because they are not paying attention.
Not so sure people will react as if they are gunmen. They look like they are running around taking pictures. Ive seen people open carrying AR15s on Youtube, looking for reactions and people dont react as if they are bad gunmen.
