BBQ Guns
At the risk of getting the cart before the horse I am pondering a BBQ gun if Open Carry passes. On a regular basis I will still conceal but thought it might be nice to have a nice gun and holster rig to wear to social engagements among friends and like-minded folks.
It would almost have to be a 1911. I'd like to stay low key and "classic" whatever that really means. I appreciate full coverage engraving and gold inlay but that's not really my style, or in my budget.
I'd love to see your BBQ guns to get a feel and some ideas.

Re: BBQ Guns
In a similar vein, it might be interesting to consider some PR if (licensed) OC does pass. Community service projects in other states where OC was already legal, but poorly understood, have been helpful. Trash pickups, for instance, along the roadway. BBQs in the park (all weapons stay holstered at all times...)
Wonder if the MSM would cover such things?

I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

Re: BBQ Guns
It seems to me by nature of the term "BBQ Gun or Rig" it should something special, not your EDC. Maybe a nice new grip and engraved holster.troglodyte wrote:At the risk of getting the cart before the horse I am pondering a BBQ gun if Open Carry passes. I would buy a fancier belt, maybe some engraving and a silver buckle.
I wouldn't get a engraved with gold inlay either, I just can't picture me wearing a Kydex holster with an off-the-shelf black M&P for a BBQ rig.

Re: BBQ Guns
I agree with the Colt part, and the .45 part, but it'd be a Colt SAA.

I agree. I'd like to find a "Sunday-go-to-meeting" gun for special occasions. Not a safe queen but not my EDC. Something nice but tasteful and reserved. Then a nice engraved leather holster of similar adornment.WildBill wrote: It seems to me by nature of the term "BBQ Gun or Rig" it should something special, not your EDC. I'm not ruling out a SAA. There is an allure to a Peacemaker or Bisley.brhalltx wrote:I agree with the Colt part, and the .45 part, but it'd be a Colt SAA.

OMG! Y'all sound like a bunch of girly girls!
As for me, I'm sticking with my Glock 19. You can't go wrong with classic black. Goes with everything.

Especially if you drip some BBQ sauce on your "classic black."Crossfire wrote:OMG! Y'all sound like a bunch of girly girls!![]()

"OMG! Y'all sound like a bunch of girly girls!"
Yes, perhaps a "lace" holster would be a lovely alternative to stinky old leather or heavens, the "ever so gauche" kydex.
I feel like swooning!
My hand is fanning my face to keep from passing out!!

Re: BBQ Guns
Are you calling the Lone Ranger a "girly girl"? This was his EDC and not even a BBQ gun.Abraham wrote:"OMG! Y'all sound like a bunch of girly girls!"
