RoyGBiv, I agree that the remarks attributed to Rep. Yarmuth are scary, but I think it is great that the RJC called him out.

People change, political parties change, outlooks change. I remembered a quote from Hubert Humphrey about the Second Amendment and googled it. In about 1960 or so, that mainstream Democrat said:

"Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms. This is not to say that firearms should not be very carefully used, and that definite safety rules of precaution should not be taught and enforced. But the right of citizens to bear arms is just one more guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against tyranny which now appears remote in America, but which historically has proved to be always possible"

Going back to the title of this thread, it is pretty much to be expected that people under threat want weapons with which to defend themselves. Jews in yirp are under threat again. Those of us in this country, not so much; but we have weapons, and they're wanting them.

As Obama grows "more flexible", perhaps he will eventually overstep his bounds so egregiously that even the RINO's and the Dems will have to do something...the contraversy swirling around the Boehner invitation to Bibi may even get some yellow dog Democrat Jewish liberals to re-think their position...Jewish Liberals seem to, for some unknown reason, become Hawks when it comes to Israel....
