Man dead in Walgreens parking lot in Tyler

The police are being vague on details but a 31 year old man with a record of theft is dead after being shot a single time in the chest in the parking lot of a Walgreens in North Tyler.

Not that it makes any difference to the deceased, but this reads more like the Walgreens at Troup Hwy and the Loop rather than north Tyler.

CHL holder involved. Victim ( OK, perp ) was unarmed, but 65 yo vs. 31 yo provides the CHL holder a possible 'disparity of force' defense. Also the perp has previous criminal history, had just been thrown out of IHOP, and was chasing cars on the highway. Sounds like there may have been drugs and/or alcohol involved on the perps's part as well. Hopefully Wlagreen's has security cameras outside that will also provide evidence of the event.

Will be interesting to see how the GJ rules.
