Habitual pot smokers are still disqualified from firearms possession under federal law.

Easy Solution. The Federal Government needs to be kicked permanently out of all State business. As it should be.

Novel concept. Maybe we ought to put that in writing.rbwhatever1 wrote:Easy Solution. The Federal Government needs to be kicked permanently out of all State business. As it should be.

Actually, it is rumored some in Congress can read but they can only read legislation and only after they passed it.RPBrown wrote:Oldgringo wrote:Good one!anygunanywhere wrote:Novel concept. Pro-gun groups can find better issues to bring before the public and/or legislature. "Guns and dope," now that's some poster child for expanding Second Amendment rights.

Re: Pot smoking and concealed carry
It still violates federal law. Maybe it shouldn't, maybe the feds should stay or of state matters, but it's still illegal. The State of Colorado cannot give its citizens the right to violate federal law.glock27 wrote:I beleive it should fall under the same category as alcohol intoxicatiin with chl...
Im one of the ones who are pro cannabis however. With restrictions similar to alcohol... all across the board
If we condone Colorado violating federal drug laws by legislative fiat, then what do we say when Colorado ignores the federal Firearms Owner Protection Act or the Lawful Commerce in Arms Act? Once again, we stare over the slippery slope.

I know many people who have concluded the the so-called "War Against Drugs" creates far more harm than good. The right answer is to work towards getting the federal law changed, not having various states ignore the feds.glock27 wrote:I believe it should fall under the same category as alcohol intoxication with chl...

If we condone the Federal government violating "shall not be infringed" then what?
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

Show me the SCOTUS opinion saying the Second Amendment means there can be no restrictions. I realize thats your opinion, but show me legal authority. BTW, Heller makes it clear that the Second Amendment is not absolute. I dont like it but my opinion, like yours, means nothing.Bart wrote:If we condone the Federal government violating "shall not be infringed" then what?

Yep, I suspect that there are marijuana users in Colorado that are lying on question 11e on the 4473.Jumping Frog wrote:Habitual pot smokers are still disqualified from firearms possession under federal law.
