WACO, Texas -
Police are searching for the man who shot a Waco-area TV station's meteorologist outside the building.

It happened Wednesday morning in the parking lot of the KCEN studio, which is just south of Waco on Interstate 35 in Bruceville-Eddy.

KCEN identified the victim as Patrick Crawford, a morning show meteorologist. He was shot multiple times and rushed to the hospital for surgery.

I certainly don't want to jump to any conclusions, but.....

Given the information that has already been released, I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest there might be a 3rd party involved here....aka: mistress, girlfriend, wife, ex-wife, etc.

Of course we'll wait for further details to emerge before making any more conclusive comments.

People on TV also attract some real nut jobs (to use technical terminology).

But there was the jump...and none too lightly. :nono:
Let's really wait for some facts. It may be nothing near to that limb you're on, right?

Thank you for the reprimand. That's what I love about this forum, some are so supportive and quick to point out ones errant musings. :grumble

Exactly the discussion at work yesterday.

Me, I'm still trying to figure out what wooded area the suspect ran to after the shooting. Other than some fence lines, nearest "wooded area" I remember is at least half a mile away. :headscratch

Very odd. Awesome police sketch, actually it was more of a work of art.

Sorry, but that's really not funny. This hits home, as you can tell by my username I'm in the same business. If it were a Peace Officer and you made the same sort of remark you'd be in a great deal of trouble from the mods. Not to get on you too hard, but joking about a decent human being almost dying for no reason isn't right.

I'm not on the air, but we attract all kinds of people to the station and sometimes bad things like this happen. This is one of the more extreme, but we deal with nutjobs all the time in the parking lot.

This was not bashing and a comment like this would not have been restricted by the Mod's for a LEO post.

That said, the comment could very well be accurate. As you say, there are a ton of nut jobs out there that target on-air talent. There are stalkers, overzealous fans, and even those who are so out of it they might actually think the rain that ruined the picnic for him was caused by the forecast that the meteorologist made.

Right now any speculation is too much. The suspect is apparently unknown to the meteorologist and he has no clue why the guy shot him. Unless the guy is found and they can dig the info out of him, then they may never know.

I have a hard time believing that a mod wouldn't say something if this was a thread about an officer getting shot and someone stated "Looks like he wrote the wrong guy a ticket?".

Nope, I wouldn't, and neither would the other Mod's. This was not bashing. End of discussion.

incentive yes, but if so out of line Keith would remove it in a heartbeat as he has done to me many times. I look for humor in anything even human misery. Some as yourself are closer to it then others an may be upset. You know that saying about some of the people some of the time. I have no problem if a mod wants to remove it.
