“And that’s why it’s important for us as Americans to know our neighbors, know our families — tell somebody,” Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo said Monday. “If you know somebody that is acting with a lot of hatred towards any particular group- especially if it’s somebody you know is a gun enthusiast or is armed with these type of firearms and they’re showing any kind of propensity for hatred- it doesn’t mean we’re going to take them to jail, but we might want to vet these people.”

Huh, they didn't feel the need to vet someone that wanted to be president.
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

He is stepping on FBI toes. FBI is cataloging all of us, why he had to bother anyway?

The title should read ' "Gun enthusiasts" warn against Austin PD Chief Acevedo'

I'd like to see the full statement before I comment on something from the The Blaze.

I live in Austin and I can tell you that Acevedo is an anti 2nd Amendment Socialist. He is active with several anti gun groups including Bloomburg and has traveled to Washington on taxpayer dollars to speak before Congress as a proponent of stricter gun control.

His statement was part of an interview but not taken out of context at all.

All ya gotta do is a little Google search http://www.myfoxaustin.com/story/275187 ... -extremist" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

His statement is in there. He basically says if they are acting 'peculiar' and especially if they are a'gun enthusiast', then they 'might want to vet these people'. Some people may say I act peculiar because I am a gun enthusiast. Way too open a statement by him and I think it shows his true thoughts on 'gun enthusiasts' overall.

Acevedo is a political animal, as are most police chiefs. The leadership in the city of Austin and for that matter Travis County leadership are anti-gun, I don't know why we would expect him to be any different....

Quit turning these convicted felons out on the streets and you won't have to worry about their enthusiasms, Chief.
