A modern carol! Written in 1962 by Noël Regney and Gloria Shayne. As performed by Mr. Bing Crosby!

William Chatterton Dix when struck by a near fatal illness in 1866 and ensuing depression, spent his days focused on the condition of his spiritual rather his physical body. One of the happy consequences of his illness was the new lyrics he wrote to a traditional English melody Green Sleeves.

Using a12th century Welsh traditional air "Oer yw'r gŵr sy'n methu caru", Thomas Oliphant (in fits and starts over a 12 year period, 1862-1874) crafted new lyrics to match the heart lifting music.

The Wexford Carol (Carúl Loch Garman, Carúl Inis Córthaidh) is thought to be the oldest Irish Carol and one of, if not the oldest known Christian carols. It's roots lay in the late 11th or early 12th century Enniscorthy, County Wexford, Ireland.

Good people all, this Christmas time, consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done, in sending his beloved son
With Mary holy we should pray, to God with love this Christmas Day
In Bethlehem upon that morn, there was a blessed Messiah born
The night before that happy tide, the noble Virgin and her guide
Were long time seeking up and down, to find a lodging in the town
But mark right well what came to pass, from every door repelled, alas
As was foretold, their refuge all, was but a humble ox's stall
Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep, their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep
To whom God's angel did appear, which put the shepherds in great fear
Arise and go, the angels said, to Bethlehem, be not afraid
For there you'll find, this happy morn, a princely babe, sweet Jesus, born
With thankful heart and joyful mind, the shepherds went the babe to find
And as God's angel had foretold, they did our Saviour Christ behold
Within a manger he was laid, and by his side a virgin maid
Attending on the Lord of Life, who came on earth to end all strife
There were three wise men from afar, directed by a glorious star
And on they wandered night and day, until they came where Jesus lay
And when they came unto that place, where our beloved Messiah lay
They humbly cast them at his feet, with gifts of gold and incense sweet.

Use the "video" tags instead of the Youtube tags and you don't have or change anything.

Though not a traditional carol, "Petit Papa Noel" is a very popular Christmas song in France.
:tiphat: TAM

Little Father Christmas

It's a beautiful Christmas night
Snow spreads its white coat
And eyes lift toward the sky
On their knees, small children
Before closing their eyelids
Say one last request

Little Father Christmas
When you come down from the sky
With toys by the thousands
Don't forget my little shoe
But before leaving
You must cover yourself well
Outside you will be so cold
It's a little because of me

I can't wait for it to get light
To see if you have brought me
All the lovely toys that I see in dreams
And that I ordered from you

Little Father Christmas
When you come down from the sky
With toys by the thousands
Don't forget my little shoe

And when you are on your beautiful cloud
Come first to our house
I wasn't always very well behaved
But I ask for your forgiveness

Little Father Christmas
When you come down from the sky
With toys by the thousands
Don't forget my little shoe

Little Father Christmas

Well after listening to the first post in this thread, I have another to add to my list. I love that arrangement and the vocalist.
Oh Holy Night and Mary Did You Know are two of my favorites. I have recorded both. I love singing Christmas songs.
Pentatonicx (sp) is one of my favorite groups. Bryn Terfel, Renee Fleming for a more classical taste.

Charles, for the record, EVERYONE can sing. You can too! If someone don't like it, tell them to sing their own.

Merry Christmas to all!
