He is getting MUCH better. The last incidentwas about 7 months ago. And was right after the Lt. was letting him play with his handcuffs, it is not a leap for a 3 year old to assume that if I can play with this toy, I can then play with that toy. What's the difference. This is why I am now trying to teach him WHAT a gun is and WHAT a gun does, and WHAT DAMAGE a gun can do.

This was the main thing he took away from the helicopter ride in India. We built a real small shack, took like an hour. Sat inside it watching what they call TV and ate watermelons. Well, what the call watermellons. We then left for the airfield proper, he wanted to take some watermellon with him. We told him they weould be there when he got back. The guys then proceeded to blow the crap outta that shack. He thought it was a blast...

We then landed about an hour later and went back for his wateemellon which was splattered for 20 feet in all directions. He was sad, or maybe that was hunger...

Then, we were having lunch with some regular army guys and he pointed to the guys pistol. I said, "Remember the watermelon" He got it...

I would have had a red rear end and a long stay with my nose in the corner. And when I got my nose out of the corner, it would have been turn over the flower beds for a week duty. . . .

You had better stop that pretty quick!

Do not lump me in with the Anti's. I own plenty of weapons and shoot probably more then most of the people on this board as of late. We just got back from India again where we shot no less then 2 hours a day with the Indian army on my off time. We got to shoot some big stuff too, like stuff mounted on helisopters :-)

Anyway, an Anti argument is that guns kill people, my argument is, that the guy working on my sink may just be the 1 in whatever idiot whose gun goes off accidentally. I prefer not to take the chance. The beautiful part about being my home, and being in America is that it takes only one word being spoken, "Leave" and guess what, I do not have to say anymore than that. No explanation, no have a nice day. Nothing.

That, in my humble opinion is a very weak argument.
I've been in service work for about 20 years. Some of the places I went would scare the heck out of most people.
Your making the same arguments that the anti's use and they just don't work. If they are properly concealing, then you will never know. And being a chl holder tells you that they passed a pretty good background check, so that is exactly who you should want working in and around your house.
Sure sounds like you think that your the only one that should carry.

Either post a sign, or give a verbal. If not, then they are perfectly within their rights to carry. What is so hard to understand.

Exactly, if they are properly concealing, I would never know.

And yes, if they have a CHL they ARE exactly who I would want around. Just not with a firearm when my son is home.

And I agree with you, their "verbal" is my, "Leave"

And for the record, I think every non criminal should be allowed to carry. And it should be a hell of a lot simpler and less time consuming to get a license. If it should even be licensed. It should all be handled at the local level, as in, local town or city. At the very worst, at the County level. Why can;t I go buy me CHL from Academy at the same time I buy my fishing license every year? If should still remain a State mandated "Shall" issue as well. The County takes taxes every yeay from me, why shouldn't someone suggest that it is handled locally? No need to go into great detail on this one as I am just stating my feelings on whether I am the only one I want to carry or not.

Over the last number of months, I have formulated a conclusion based solely on these board posts. It seems from my observations that some CHL holders feel they are a protected class of citizen. They feel and attempt to demonstrate that anyone who infringes on their right to be possesing a firearm on or about their person, by utilizing their right to infringe, such as a homeowner or business owner must be evil. Or support criminals and the like.

Our right to posses a firearm does not trump others rights to not allow it in their home. Your right to religion does not allow you to force religion on others. Our right to free speech does not allow us to infringe on others rights by saying I am going to blow up this plane, whethe ryou mean it or not. Your right to carry a bic lighter walking down the street does not take the TSA's right to confiscate it at the airport. In this case, you have two options, leave, or comply and get on the plane, yes it is perfectly legal to have a bic lighter in your pocket. And umbrellas, same thing. Notice I am referencing harmless inanimate objects here. There is no 1:1 comparison that I can think of for CHL Holder Vs. CHL Holder yet wants to control his home, but there are plenty that come pretty close.

Your son shouldn't even be in the equation. Why would you let him around sharp and heavy tools, much less get in the way of a working serviceman????????????????

If a service person is using say a cirular saw, or a cutting torch, I can see that and keep him away from it at the appropriate times. If some plumber is rooting around undee the sink, there is no reason he can't go over and watch and even help.

No No No No No

Good gravy, I can't believe you are serious. It's bad enough when grown ups get in the work space, but your going to let a child watch and help???!!!!!
That child ought to be in another room, or at least no where near a service man.

Wow

Please inform us how we are supposed to know that the service person who flashed or printed is a CHLer. Are you willing to take their word for it?

Right2Carry wrote: The problem here is that the service person can tell you he is a CHL holder and he has no requirement to prove to you that he is or isn't. A CHL holder is only required to show his ID to a LEO not joe blow citizen.

It is also my experiance that most Companies forbid the carrying of firearms in Company Vehicles. Would you trust someone who has already decided to violate company policy? Is this person trustworthy? If he flashes you have no way in knowing that he is a legit CHL holder.

The issue here IMHO has nothing to do with trusting a fellow CHL holder, but is the guy actually a CHL holder. As so many have posted on here that they would never divulge to Joe Blow Citizen whether they have a CHL if asked or stopped in a store by a security person, I find it hard to believe they would show their CHL to a homeowner who requests it to prove they are legal. Anyone can say they have a CHL in your home.
Many service people are self employed. I don't know where you get the idea that most employers forbid guns, is just not true. Maybe its just that we hear people complain about the ones do ban it. My pizza guy carries. But it is pizza hut deliveries that we hear about.

While I understand that there are CHLers that might not be safe. I have found that CHLers are a safer group of people than other gun folks such as hunters, or range plinkers. I see no indications that as a group CHLers are more accident prone than LEOs. Even among the stupid Holstereed guns don't jump out of a holster or go off accidentally. Of the 1 million or so license holders in the country I've only heard i've AD/ND incidents while the licensee was actually handling the gun while unholstered. such as at a range while cleaning or at a gun show. While I have heard of at least one LEO who pulled the trigger while a gun was holstered in his pocket.

Jeeeeeez Loueez
What is so hard to understand that a person who possesses a CHL is PERFECTLY LEGAL to carry concealed. Therefor...
IF YOU DON'T WANT A PERSON WITH A CHL TO CARRY IN YOUR HOME, THAN PUT A DAG GUM SIGN UP, OR GIVE VERBAL NOTICE WHEN THEY ARRIVE.
IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE!!!!!

Get a sign, give them verbal, or shake in fear. Your choice.

Your poor grasp on English aside, accusing me of having an addiction may be construed as a personal attack.

What I brought up, was a conversation about the same topic. Since you're still here, you should notice that happens rather often.
Many of us, we who know how to hit the "quote" button, reference older threads that pertain to the same topic.

I never challenged that you had the "right" to your own opinion.
funny, you get up in arms about your "right" to your own opinion, but other's "right" to defend themselves is of no concern.
