correct mauser ammo?

#1

Post by drjoker »

I have a 8mm 1940 VZ24 Mauser.

I know that Mauser ammo has 2 power levels;
A. .318 caliber lower power, no designation or I or J.
B. .323 caliber higher power, designated JS or IS.

I think that my 8mm VZ24 1940 Mauser uses the JS or IS ammo. I just wanted to double check before I put ammo in it and start shooting it.

Thanks,
:tiphat:

All of the 98 actions use js ammo only the 1888 commission rifles use the small bore,.318 and some of them were reamed but not rebarreld to use the .323 size and are so marked with an S on the barrel ahead of the action.
