Interesting to see how the snub revolver is keeping up with the Combat Tupperware {tm}

agreed.yeah you cannot beat the reliability of a wheel gun
I think the downside (for some) is the low capacity compared to an auto. Even a 1911 OM can hold 7+1 rounds in roughly the same size package.
OTOH, there isn't a way in the poll to indicate whether the snub is a primary or a BUG.

Yeah, I am also shocked that so many people still use an old fashioned revolver. I thought that I'm the only odd bird that still uses a revolver for a EDC CCW. I carry a snub by itself if I'm in a real hurry to get out the door. I carry the snub as a BUG to my G19 if it is a high risk situation (metered parking in downtown Dallas at night). I also carry the .38 snub as the primary and a .380 as my BUG for medium risk situations or if I want to be really low profile in a high risk situation. The snub conceals nicely in a Smartcarry because it is anatomically shaped. A G19 in a Smartcarry makes a square shaped print and I've been made before by females who were checking me out. Also, it is kinda hard to draw a weapon from most holsters if you're strapped into a seat belt in a car. However, if you wear a shoulder holster under your clothes (Kangaroo carry or a custom leather holster made from suede or some other really thin leather) you can draw a weapon through your collar if you keep the top two buttons unbuttoned when you wear shirts (or blouses). This method only works well with an airweight S&W snub or other really lightweight gun as the weight will make your shoulders hurt with a heavy gun (Dirty Harry must have very painful shoulders).ghostrider wrote:agreed.yeah you cannot beat the reliability of a wheel gun

I think that a G19 is just as reliable as a .38 snub, HOWEVER most shootings are in very close range because most normal people really (REALLY) DON'T want to shoot anybody, so they wait to the last minute before pulling the trigger. The problem is, if you're in contact range, if you pull the trigger on an auto pistol with the barrel jammed up against a perp's torso, that auto pistol WILL jam and you won't get a 2nd shot. A revolver will fire just fine for 5 to 6 shots even with it jammed against someone's torso. Even if the perp is 20 ft away from you, by the time your gun clears the holster and you're aiming it, the perp will already be on top of you. It takes less then 2 seconds to clear 20 ft. Therefore, the ideal situation is for you to carry a revolver AND an auto pistol. If you can only afford ONE gun, I'd recommend a .38 snub.

An "Other" poll option would have been nice.
The month of August was my Taurus PT709 Slim. New month (SEP), I will decide between M&P40C; PT740 Slim; PT111 or PT140 MilPro. On rare occasion I may carry my TISAS Zigana Sport or Taurus PT92AFS - the latter two may also be used as truck back up gun when traveling in addition to my CCW.

What??? No chance to vote for my beloved Lorcin?
Seriously though, I carry a Glock 23 all day, a Glock 30S for going out, and Mrs SDT carries her beloved M&P Shield. Obviously many of us would carry them all if we could find a place to hang 'em.

Usually a CM9, but also occasionally an LCP, SP101, or Seecamp. It was interesting to me to see how many folks are able to conceal XDM size guns - I think I'm going to have to try that.

how do you like the SP101? I got one for my wife because she is new to shooting and I like it a lot, the grip is a little small for me but other than that its a good shooterNorthTexas wrote:Usually a CM9, but also occasionally an LCP, SP101, or Seecamp. Re: Poll: What is / are your EDC CCW gun(s)?
I'm glad you like your SP101! I love everything about mine except the trigger, bobbed hammer, and capacity. I'm really just a semi auto guy that probably needs more revolver practice to get used to that long, heavy trigger. It's a great gun though, built like a tank and absolutely reliable. About the only time I carry mine is when I'm walking my dogs or if I'll be out in the woods/nature. At those times, I'll load up two .38 shotshells and three .38+P hollowpoints. That way I'm covered for aggressive critters that slither or walk on two or four legs. The ability to fire shotshells without having to manually rack a slide after each shot is the main reason I keep my SP101. For normal EDC, my CM9 is basically the same size but easier to conceal due to shape, I shoot it way better, and I can have 14 rounds on me with an extra magazine in my pocket, so it relegated my SP101 to its current status.patterson wrote: how do you like the SP101? My wifes SP101 is the 4.25 inch barrel model as she doesn't carry but since its her range gun im not going to change the grips to bigger hogues for me because then it would be too big for her. The trigger is good for me because im used to revolvers and most of my semi autos are DA/SA

Has she tried the Hogue grip to be sure? My wife has smaller hands and I figured she would prefer the original grip, but she ended up preferring the Hogue. I also prefer the Hogue for range work, but I haven't tried to CC with it. Mine is the 2.25" barrel version, that 4.25" barrel is really perfect for the range though.

Re: Poll: What is / are your EDC CCW gun(s)?
that's why I got her the 4.25 thought it would help her with accuracy and she shoots 38 special and I thought I could shoot magnum loads.I have had her try to rack the slides on my semi autos and some at LGS and the only one so far she can manipulate is the Sig P238 and P938NorthTexas wrote:Has she tried the Hogue grip to be sure?
