A state government agency within that state should not have the ability to preempt state law. If a municipality, city, or a county cannot make such a law neither should a state agency be allowed to.

If you haven't already done so, post your public comments to the TABC, http://www.tabc.state.tx.us/laws/proposed/361am.asp.

Now that the NRA has come out against the proposed changes, I can speak publicly. These changes are HORRIBLE! They have the potential to kill gun shows and Friends of the NRA Dinners.

There is no legitimate governmental interest in this proposed change at all.

However, it follows the precedent of leftists' penchant for achieving through regulation what they can't achieve through legislation.

Our legislators must be made aware that this is a brazen overreach by TABC that should be slapped down right quick.

I posted a negative comment to the site and guess what..
Message Delivery Failed

"This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

So posting on the site may not help. Has anyone gotten through to them??

My comments were..
"Am against this completely. Prefer that alcohol be banned at all gun shows. This provision effectively would ban gun shows. Is that the reason for this? To ban gun shows? Who is actually proposing this and for what reason? Have heard of stupid government rules but this seems to top the list. "

Maybe their mailbox is full. Whatever, posting your opinion may not get anywhere. Perhaps Charles can give a heads up as to how we get noticed.

I sent an opposition email to Carolyn Beck and Martin Wilson yesterday. I also just submitted a comment opposing the changes on the website. I haven't received act reply from the email, but I did get the "your message was successfully delivered" screen after paying my comment online.
