Looks like Glock made some unannounced changes to fix problems with early production models, how to check yours:

Re: For Glock 42 owners:
I will have to check my G42, but so far I have shot about 100 rounds through it without one single problem. I have only used a few different brands of ammo so far.
Re: For Glock 42 owners:
Thanks for the link. No issues with mine at all so far. Fun little gun to shoot!

Re: For Glock 42 owners:
Mine have all the upgraded parts except for the mags. Also, my frames are marked with a 2 rather than a 1.........one dated 6/23 and one dated 6/05.

Re: For Glock 42 owners:
After your post I couldn't stand it that it just worked I had to know if it was a newer one. I guess curiosity. I do however have the newer one.QB wrote:Mine have all the upgraded parts except for the mags. Also, my frames are marked with a 2 rather than a 1.........one dated 6/23 and one dated 6/05.
Just curious has any Forum members had any issues?

Re: For Glock 42 owners:
Haven't shot either of mine but hope to do so in a week or so (I actually now have 4 guns I haven't shot.....good grief). I bought a variety of range ammo as well as defensive ammo to try out. Will post my results.
I'm hoping it's a softer shooter than the various blowback designs (I would think it certainly is).

Re: For Glock 42 owners:
Shot my G42 tonight...it was the gun dated June 05 2014. Has all the updates (including a frame marked "2"). The mags have been "adjusted" by Glock but did not have the -1
I only shot at 7 yards since tonight was just for reliability. All shots were easily in center mass with the exception of the very first one (low right) which was, of course, shooter error. I don't have any kind of technical report, just basically how the gun functioned with various ammo.
Shot 225 rounds. Loaded mags with 6 rounds. Did not load one in chamber and then top off mag. Used the 2 mags that came with the gun.
Winchester PDX1 Defender - 25 rounds
1st mag of 6 rounds: 2nd round did not feed. Tapped the slide and it went into battery and all rounds fired and slide stayed open after the last round.
Round 7 - 25: No malfunctions
HPR 100 gr TMJ range ammo - 50 rounds
No malfunctions
Hornady Critical Defense 90 gr FTX - 25 rounds
No malfunctions
PMC 90 gr FMJ - 50 rounds
No malfunctions
Winchester 95 gr FMJ - 50 rounds
No malfunctions
Civil Liberty Defense 50 gr 1500 fps - 25 rounds
No malfunctions
WOW, THIS AMMO IS VERY VERY LIGHT
With the exception of the one failure to feed, gun functioned 100%. No brass to face, no failure to eject.....although many have commented on the "heavy trigger" mine felt just fine. The trigger was so smooth with a nice break that I don't even remember firing the gun.....it just seemed all so natural for me. This gun just flat out fits my hand perfectly. I've just really never had a gun feel so good in my hand and I've had a bunch or guns over the years. It's a soft shooter and I found I absolutely stayed on target and could shoot all the rounds very fast (as fast as range allowed, only pressed the rule one time). Easy to rack slide but then again I've been racking slides a zillion years.
Although I've had several different 380s (Colt, Sphinx, Beretta, Sig) I just never liked them that much. The Colt was great but I didn't want to carry a single action "cocked and locked" gun, the Sphinx was nice but long trigger pull and fat (I believe it was double stack mag), Sig P232 SS was sharp shooting (blowback) and heavy if I recall, Berettas were nice but just big and heavy and didn't appeal to me for some reason (which I can't remember now, it's been a long time ago).
I hesitated to buy yet another 380 but the G42 intrigued me. All I can say is that I just really really love this gun. I wanted a small carry gun that I could also enjoy shooting at the range (I like to shoot my defensive guns a lot at the range). The G42 will be going with me to the range every time, that's for sure. Not afraid of wearing it out because I bought a 2nd one (not that there's any way I'll ever wear one out...it was just an excuse since I need a couple more mags anyway)
Just as an aside, I also shot on of my new G34s Gen 4 tonight and it had NO malfunctions with Winchester range ammo and Hornady Critical Defense.
Will post more info as I have it. I am going to try to go to Eagle Gun Range on Tuesday since it's $5 ladies night (save money on range = buy more ammo).
Note: once Precision One defensive ammo is available again I will test that as it got a great review. Their website now says September I think.
