maybe I will check out the polymer sig 2022 as a lighter weight option for carry if the ergonomics are the same as the 226 but I have no problems carrying the sig p226 or a 1911TNacp99 wrote:I own a sig p226, M&P full size VTAC 9 mm, Glock 17 Gen4, Glock 19 Gen4, and Colt New Agent.
I have used both the Sig p226 and the Glock 19 in separate pistol courses (round counts 500-800 each course).
My preferences are as follows:
Grip ergonomics-unmodified out of the box: Sig p226
Bore axis- Glock
Engineering quality and feel: Sig p226
Trigger preference: Glock after modification (GHOST connector, polishing)
Sights out of the box: Sig night sights
Performance during pistol courses: Glock
Comfort during carry conceal: Glock (lighter)
Availability of accessories: Glock
What do I prefer overall? I carry concealed a Glock Gen 4 but I have had to modify it significantly. The reconstructive surgeries on my Glock have included: Grip reduction to better fit my hands, heavy stippling, changing sights to Ameriglo I-dot sights, and Ghost Evo Elite connector and polishing. Once you have made all of these changes, the price matches the Sig but my glock now fits and feels great. You cannot modify the Sig very much except for the sights.
The Glock performed much better in terms of handling and accuracy (after above modifications) during the courses. The accuracy of the Sig was great once the SA kicked in but as others have mentioned, the initial DA to SA transition threw me off too many times. Carrying the glock is much more comfortable because of its lighter weight.
Hope this helps.

My first choice in handguns is always Glock. Reliable, accurate, affordable, has large market share which means magazines, accessories and parts are less expensive and more widely available than most any other. Parts and magazine interchangeability is always a plus.
Unless you have a specific role that a Glock can't fill, (can't think of any when compared to similiar sized handguns), I go Glock.

Yes, but that's likely to change with their recently announced quest for a new pistol to replace the M9.patterson wrote:doesn't the military use the da/sa platform such as the M9 as a secondary weapon

M9 was not chosen on lethality or ease of use as it has one the least user friendly manualExcaliber wrote:Yes, but that's likely to change with their recently announced quest for a new pistol to replace the M9.patterson wrote:doesn't the military use the da/sa platform such as the M9 as a secondary weapon
arms of any defensive pistol. If we are to continue the friendly debate of the merits of this platform, the military use of it holds no weight in my mind.

yeah you are probably right because in the last big handgun testing(ICE) I believe DAO pistols won out

im not an opponent to the striker fired platform and im not a die hard da/sa platform fan or Sig only fan and everything else is junk I like firearms by a lot of makers and have them as well and im still considering a G19 but not for carry that is my choice just as its a choice for many to shoot glocks only but it seems those are the people that rip on people if they like something better than glocks

I don't see anybody ripping on anybody in this thread for choosing to own and carry the firearms that they do.patterson wrote:its a choice for many to shoot glocks only but it seems those are the people that rip on people if they like something better than glocks
