The post I saw is basically saying that he wanted to do drugs but because he had family and responsibilities he wouldn't/couldn't. In hoodrat vernacular of course. I wouldn't want to be on a range with this guy having a gun never mind in a restaurant but some of the bashing is a little off.

Chipotle has now banned guns, but have stopped at not putting 30.06 on the door.

I saw one open carry guys on I20 this past Sat. I wanted to stop and talk about their stance. I'm leaning towards no. Simply because I don't know if they are allowed to carry fully loaded, one in the chamber, and the safety off. What if some psycho is standing in line to order and reaches over to pull the trigger? Too many variables to consider if they want to carry so openly.

In Texas long guns are, for now, completely unrestricted. The Open Carry folks can legally carry with one in the chamber, safety on or off, and fully loaded if they wish. My training that I have received has always been that you carry a pistol ready to be used (round in the chamber, mag full, safety on if present) and a long in a condition where it can be made ready (loaded mag, empty chamber, bolt closed). As to how the person/people you saw were carrying I can not say.

The key phrase I think is fast becoming: "for now"

It's obvious the folks in line are terrified. I guess they think this will desensitize people similar to how many believe constant exposure to violent video games and tv shows desensitize kids to violence and killing.

Kind of reminds me of a close friend and deacon from our church that moved to New Jersey a while back. He was astonished at how openly and commonly people used vulgar language in regular conversation out in public. At first he would confront the people and say something to them about it. Over time, he got to where he didn't notice it so much. Then one day he caught himself saying something vulgar in a public place. He realized he had been desensitized to it to the point he didn't realize he was doing it too. He made a conscious decision to guard against in so he would not do it again.

Regardless, I am not a fan of people doing this on private property and private businesses. It does more harm than good.
