Sending in documentation on arrest

#1

Post by knblount »

Hi all. When I originally applied for my chl online I listed my arrests on the app but I didn't realize I had to send in documentation. I recieved a letter from the dps asking for the documentation and I have what I need but Im not sure what the quickest way to send it in would be. Do I have to send it snail mail? (And if I do is there any information I need to include with my certified copies?) Or would they accept fax or email? Im afraid if I have to use snail mail itll take another 30-60 days to process like my original packet. I've tried calling but I guess Im calling to late in the day because I get a recording saying all reps are busy call back later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

People used to say the clock doesn't start until the application is complete. I don't know if that's still true but good luck.

Make sure you include the barcode page when you upload the documents so that whomever at DPS gets the arrest reports can attach it to your account/paperwork/forward to correct person.

Here's how the upload works at DPS:

You upload your documents
Someone at DPS gets the email, and PRINTS out the attachments
The attachments go to the processing people

I hope that by uploading your personal information when you upload the documents that it carries with the Printouts, but if you have your barcode, you are guaranteed that the DPS person who prints out everything prints out the barcode as well and the processor will get the barcode and attachments. Including the barcode would definitely make things easier.

You're almost certainly correct, and in the miniscule chance they can't (because maybe your data is in one form and you usually use another form of your name) then they'll get ahold of you again.

You don't have a copy of that barcode page in an email? When I first got my CHL, they needed a copy of my name change form and a copy of my US citizenship certificate and I just mailed it in. This was before they had any of the barcode stuff. I got my plastic a couple weeks later. Glad things worked out and progressing along.
