Texas: Senate Committee to Hold Interim Hearing on Open Carry and Loosening Restrictions on your Gun Rights Tomorrow

Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst (R) has charged the Texas Senate Committee on Agriculture, Rural Affairs & Homeland Security with studying and making recommendations on removing barriers in Texas to the exercise of your Second Amendment rights. Those recommendations include open carry legislation, which is expected to be filed in the 2015 legislative session. This committee will hold a public hearing tomorrow, April 7 at 9:00 a.m. in Room E1.016 of the State Capitol. Invited testimony will be taken, along with public comment.

Is he running for same position?
And I am interested with the second section:
"and Loosening Restrictions on your Gun Rights ....."
What does that mean? carrying concealed where ever the police officers can carry, (save secure areas, prisons and courts of law?)

Exactly. Sorry to be so cynical, but the 2015 legislative session is a long way away. Does the Lt Gov typically start tasking committees with assignments this early in the process?

I agree. I believe it's politics as usual!

I'll be voting for Patrick as well!

Hopefully with him in the Lt Governor's position, we will be able to get a decent bite at the legislative apple! Our only hope is for our legislators to unseat Strauss!

That would be a win/win situation for the Pro 2nd Amendment in Texas.

So, what is his plan to deal with Joe Strauss?

Same as any other politician. Make a lot of noise about "doing something", then be whiny and say "I told you so" a lot when it doesn't work.
