That is true for me as well on both the voting as well as getting here as soon as I could. I was simply not quite as surrounded by imbeciles before migration as some of the Cali ex-pats.The Annoyed Man wrote:Hey! I resemble that remark.....but I voted against that mess at every opportunity. I may not have been born here, but I got here as fast as I could.

Pff epic nonsense. Anyone who thinks the Texan spirit is dead has never worked in the oil patch or on a rig in the Gulf.

Unfortunately, I believe many that are so tough and spirited while sitting at a keyboard will not be quite so tough and spirited if or when faced with such a situation. It's already become quite evident how many people aren't interested in risking themselves for others as they are only interested in protecting themselves and their families.
The people that stood at the Alamo put themselves at ultimate risk for others. That is not common today. The oilfield workers make up only a portion of the populace. Plus, many of them are not even from Texas nowadays. They are young guys chasing a job with high pay.

mojo84 I agree to a great extent on your assessment of folks now days . I cant say much , I'm keeping my head down and taking care of my own also . Seems like there is not much to do to change the course of events in this country , changes being made are by the will of the people , hard for me to deal with but reality none the less . The men that died at the Alamo believed they were protecting their family and securing a good place for them to live .
Cedar Park Dad I really don't understand your comment on oilfield workers ?

What is going on is not necessarily the will of the people. Much of it is illegal and unconstitutional and carried out by thugs and criminals.chuck j wrote:mojo84 I agree to a great extent on your assessment of folks now days . There are still many good people here in these United States. Don't sell them short. Good always triumphs over evil. Do what you have to do.

I understand , I'm no stranger to a set of slips myself .Roughnecked , drilled , run a rod rig , wrenched rods , drove rig up trucks , roustabout , pumped , had a rig mechanic service business till the boom bottomed out in 81'. Started doubling for hands on the weekends when I was a junior in high school , got my worm stage out of the way pretty quick , LOL . You are correct sir .
