uploading pics and videos?

#1

Post by 1s1k52 »

I am not completely lost with computers. I build them, restore them, break them, etc. However, I have never really bothered with videos, pictures, or html of any kind.

My question is I see that people can post pictures actually in threads vs uploading it as an attachment. How? same question for video?

also how do you suggest something with a link.

Example.

" I bought these here for my AR 15" and the word is usually blue and leads to a link.

any help would be appreciated.

When you want to post to a web page use the URL button at the top of the text box
You will get tags as you see in the example below. Place the web address (URL) between the tags. It will show the URL in blue and it will be a clickable link.

If you wan to use different wording for the link, place an = sign in front of the last bracket in the beginning tag and the URL behind it. Then any words or images you place between the beginning and ending tag will be a clickable link.

Here is what the examples below will look like:

Fox news Here

I'll place a screen shot below:

Photos require that you have them hosted somewhere on the Internet. I've got my own web server that I put then on, but there are free sites available. I'm sure somebody will offer some suggestions. I stepping away from the computer for now. If nobody else give a good tutorial, I will later.

Another useful tip: When you see a post and wonder how they did it, hit the quote button. That will allow you to look at the forum codes and figure out how it was done. :tiphat:

If that doesn't quite answer your questions, then post your question, like you just did! ;-)

You can post a picture that's on your computer without having to host it on the web. Use http://tinypic.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; to upload your picture and you'll be provided a url that can then be inserted into your post using the Img button.

For example:

1. Got to tinypic
2. Click 'Choose File" and select the picture you want to upload. (you can also upload videos)
3. Click UPLOAD NOW!
4. On the next page you may have to validate that you are a human, and after doing that, you'll be provided with various codes. Select the code for 'IMG Code for Forums & Message Boards. In this case, the code is http://i60.tinypic.com/hs44l5.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (tinypic alos provides the leading Image tags.
5. Copy the entire code and paste it in your post.

Voila:
