Spread out all of my stuff between Class last July, Online application in July, fingerprinting in January, Packet sent February 4th via snail mail (didn't know online was an option). Website says still waiting to receive materials. Phone call to Austin, says it's taking them 60 days to update the website after receiving materials, with a total processing time of 4 months. No interest in giving me any information until after the first week of April.
Holy hell.... Government efficiency.

Feb 10 Notification didn't upload documents (watch this as you have to select and hit upload before submit)
Feb 10 Resubmission
Feb 11 Notification that documents were uploaded successfully and sent to CHL Specialist

and now the wait.
So after checking almost every day I got a surprise this morning....

Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

From looking at others posts, it appears that nothing changes with status until 35-45 days and then it only takes a week or less from there, so 42-52 days with some outliers getting it a little quicker and some longer.
Background check is complete manufacturing pending. So it goes from nothing just background check review, to manufacturing pending. The status is pretty much useless. I completed and turned in at the same time as my sister in law and her status changed earlier but is said she was missing something.

Initial application: 3 Feb 14
Documents submitted online: 10 Feb 14

I also called Friday, 7 March for my 30-day status update, and the lady I spoke with said "they were still going through January's applications," so take that for what it's worth.
This came up overnight:

Application : Received
Fingerprints : Complete
Affidavits : Received
DL or ID : Valid
Citizenship : No documentation required
Passport photo holder : Received
Photo : Received
Proof of Classroom training : Received
Proof of Proficiency training : Received
Proof of Special Condition : Received
Fee : Received
Background Check : Under review
Concealed Handgun License : Print pending completion of application review

So this system does update overnight because I checked around 730pm or so yesterday. 40 days from DPS receipt of materials to background review....should be soon now.

I checked status yesterday (3/19/14) at 10:30 PM and web site showed "waiting for materials". I checked this morning (3/20/14) at 7:30 AM and status had changed to " background check under review".
Hopefully, it won't be long now.

Thank ya! Now I just have to check the mail 3 or 4 times a day like I've obsessively been checking the website.
