Reminds me of a slightly more reliable source...
For the lips of an immoral woman are as sweet as honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil. But in the end she is as bitter as poison, as dangerous as a double-edged sword. Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.
and it continues -

" And she treads not in the way of life, for her paths lead them astray and they are unknown.

Therefore children, hear me,and do not turn away from the words of my mouth.

Remove your way far from her and do not go near the door of her house

Lest you give others your power and your years to those who are merciless "

Adolescents do dumb stuff. I know I did! I think if the truth has been not old by the parties involved the girl would possibly be libel for negligence (like another poster said), but it could end up as a man protecting the home case. Open and shut? But either way he dad and definitely the daughter will it on her conscious either way.

OK, let's stay on topic of the shoot and whether or not it was justified and stop making comments on the morality. There has been one warning already. Any further will result in the topic being locked.

Actually, the first eight are from a list by W. Bruce Cameron. He even has a book that includes them: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The father/shooter now knows he killed an unarmed kid who was invited into his home by his daughter who lied to her father at a critical moment. That lie, and the kid's likely panic, led to a justified but unnecessary death. Dad and daughter now have to live with this fact. Evey time Dad looks at his daughter he's going to be reminded that she caused him to kill someone. Every time she sees her Dad grieving over what he has done, she'll shoulder the guilt that the shooting was her fault, at least in significant part.

Folks, this is a tragic event that is also an excellent education tool for parents and their kids. Let's use it this way.

:headscratch Let's see if I've got this right, Mrs. Oldgringo invites somebody I don't care for, and who says and does things in my house that I don't care for, I can shoot the varmint/varmintess and it's okay?

Oh boy, that's the news I've been waiting for. :anamatedbanana

Yes, I do believe there is a lesson to be learned here, kids.

I believe that Mrs. Oldgringo is probably over 21 and co-tenant of your abode so she would have the right to invite a guest into the house. If "the guest" was not invited by you and Mrs. Gringo said she didn't know "the guest", you could probably shoot the varmint if he was doing things that you didn't like. IANAL so YMMV.

Remember, the two critical elements from the father's perspective were 1) intruder in his home at 2:30am who 2) reached for a potential weapon when told not to move.

Scenario: If I heard a noise, go in and my daughter is shouting saying there's a guy under her bed trying to attack her, what do you do then? I imagine I start shouting to come out with his hands up, but who knows in the heat of the moment. I can say in that scenario if he even blinks wrong he gets six rounds of buckshot. I'd view that as a definite threat and attack.

Of course my daughter isn't stupid enough to have a boy climb into her room at night. I'd be third or so in line of people/dogs tearing this guy a new one. The wife is downright vicious and might use...pliers...

The daughter didn't live there and yet invited someone she apparently knew fairly well into her daddy's house at 0230 hrs? :eek6 Maybe Daddy should've shot them all, you think? :fire
