Missouri Teachers object to being shot during drills

Title says it all.
Maybe Missouri could start starting small fires in schools during fire drills to make them more realistic.

Missouri is not called the "Show Me" state without reason; however, I'm not sure I want to be shot with 'pellets' either. How 'bout you, you want to be shot with 'pellets'?
What kind of pellets are they talking about?

I sure don't.

Been shot with paint balls before way back when paint ball first started up. We didn't know any better and some of us just came out in t-shirts and jeans. No face masks or helmets. It hurt, but still gotta be WAY better than getting shot with real bullets.

I wouldn't object to being shot with pellets as long as the shooters don't mind being stabbed or struck in the head with whatever blunt object I can find in my classroom...
...to protect the children, of course.

My Daughter has a small baseball bat in her classroom closet. That thing would crush someones skull. Are the Teachers allowed to defend themselves/students?

it depends on where they are, some can and many others are taught to cower and hide with a pair of scissorshowdy wrote:My Daughter has a small baseball bat in her classroom closet. That thing would crush someones skull. Are the Teachers allowed to defend themselves/students?

I don't see what their problem is, after all it's the law.
Of course it's a poor law, enacted for a poor reason.

Re: Missouri Teachers object to being shot during drills
Just goes to show you. Republican legislators can be just as stupid as Democrats. All of them feel the need to DO something after an incident like Sandy Hook, so they'll pass any old stupid law that seems to make sense at the time (in the addled brain of a legislator.)
There's a reason over 5,000 bills are introduced in our legislature every session. We need to find a way to discourage the creation of new laws.

I believe one of the many reasons TX is so successful is that the State Legislature is in session for only a few months every other year.

Re: Missouri Teachers object to being shot during drills
"Less than a week after Sandy Hook, an elementary school in East Harlem, New York, conducted an unannounced exercise. The school was locked down and a woman’s voice said “shooter” and “intruder” over the school’s public address system. Police responded after a woman called 911. The incident was particularly troublesome due to the fact the school “serves 300 students with special needs, including those with severe emotional disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy and other disorders,” according to the New York Times."
The people that came up with this idea are idiots. You would think that the "authorities" would have empathy with those 300 students, having rode the short school buss themselves.

God Bless America, and please hurry.
