Open Carry

Post by stash »

About 30 min. ago I caught the tail end of a news report on the radio and I was not sure I heard right. So, a few minutes ago I caught the whole report on the same station which indicated that Wendy Davis favors open carry.

Very surprised, but I just verified it as well.

Whether she is genuine or not, Greb Abbott better get on the record quick. The dems plan is to splinter the conservative base, and then present a viable third candidate as the election draws near.

Very strange. I don't know what to think.

Amazing that when a [democrat] politician announces that they support our position, we are suspicious.

Wendy is flailing desperately as she watches her election chances sink beneath the waves.

Support for open carry is not a genuine position.

She's just trying to pick up gun owner support for something she'd maneuver into defeat if it was ever proposed.

There are many liberals who are Second Amendment advocates.
HOWEVER:
1. Her history of padding her personal history puts question to her veracity (of course as a politician its asumed she's lying whenever she's talking. :cheers2: )

2. I'd look to see what her past history is as this does go against the grain and her opponent has staked out a position of 2nd A. support already in a heavily 2nd A state.

Absolutely right. Plus, she is a documented, confessed liar, so her credibility concerning any campaign statement or position is nonexistent. If she " wants to safeguard gun rights 'for honest citizens'," then why as a member of Fort Worth City Council, did she try to keep gun shows out of Fort Worth? I was born at night Ms. Davis, but it wasn't last night.

I'm inclined to believe this. Her record on 2A does not support this new "position".
Looks like some political posturing to me.

Davis, a former Fort Worth City Council member elected to the Senate in 2008, had "voted twice against campus carry," "voted to prohibit gun shows in Fort Worth," supported background checks for gun buyers and had opposed a measure to remove cities’ abilities to restrict guns in municipal buildings; they also provided citations and backup materials.
ETA: However........ Having her come out in support of OC, even if not genuine, is a GOOD thing.

Even if she was 100% pro 2nd amendment, I'd have to stick with a conservative. She is wrong on too many other issues.

Chas has the way of it. Looking at past history shows this is utterly a political move. If they ever debate questions should be asked like "if you're supporting CHLers open carry what about 30.06 signs-would that apply too?" and "if you support OC, why did try to keep gun shows out of Fort Worth?"

:iagree:

Yep. Davis let a small, highly vocal minority, give her illusions of grandeur after her filibuster over Senate Bill 5. Now reality is setting in and she is flip-flopping like a pancake on a greasy griddle, without the delicious end result. She is only in the race because of support from the extreme left, but when it is all said and done, she will probably loose their love through her desire woo everyone else. Rest assured, if she gets in office she will be a liberal/progressive darling and stomp on any conservative principals she can get her pink sneakers on top of.
