Unfortunately, my life becomes very hectic during December and January. With budget talks, taxes advertising and marketing plans for the upcoming year...on and on. It is nice being the boss and owning the company but it means I get to work while everyone else is enjoying the slow season. So no report yet.

Welp... Finally found some time for shooting. Today was my birthday so I turned off the cell phone and went to the range. Spent five hours shooting a few of my carry weapons.

I was actually quite pleased with how the 442 handled. From reading some of the posts from others I was a little concerned about the gun beating me to death. I love the darn thing. The laser made all the difference. The factory sights on this gun, if you want to call them sights, are horrible. At least for anyone with the aging side affect of vision loss. I am wishing I had laser sights on all my carry weapons!

I fired around 200 rounds through it and at 15 feet, the darn thing could put five rounds in a three inch circle. I bet as I get more practice with it I can do better. Next trip out I plan to start trying her out at 20 and 25 feet.

As far as the recoil goes I found with standard .38 special rounds it was not bad at all. About like my PM9. Maybe a little less felt recoil but close. The .38 +P rounds were a different story. A noticeable increase in recoil. Enough that it affected my accuracy. Some of this may be due to "new gun syndrome". My PM9 gave me trouble at first but now it is a tack driver for me. I got use to it.

I like the gun and would not hesitate to recommend it as a good pocket carry alternative. I will say this. I was warned by a few on the forum about getting this small frame in a .357. I am glad I paid heed to the warnings. I feel this weapon in a .357 would be torturous to shoot.

One last thing. I took several brands of ammo and the lightened trigger work I did on the gun resulted in zero problems. It definitely made trigger control better.

Happy Birthday! My son also had a birthday today (his 30th), and my job was to pick him up early and deliver him back home at the designated time for the surprise party his wife was putting together. So, took him up to the Frisco Gun Club and helped him break in his birthday present from me, a Ruger 4" 1911 in .45. Also spent a little time on the indoor rifle range - he was like a little kid in a candy store there.

And, both of you happened to be born during the first days of the Chinese New Year (also known as Tet, for the Vietnamese) this year.

新年快乐!
Xīnnián kuàilè!

Glad you both had a fun birthday shooting!

Oh cool. That was were I went. I was there Friday morning from 10am until about 2:30pm. What day/time were you there? That was my first time. I joined a couple weeks ago and went with the platinum so I could shoot all I want without paying by the hour. I really like the place. It is nice. They are suppose to let me shoot a full auto with two magazines free for my birthday but don't have one yet. They told me I could just do it when they get one in. So far so good... People are real helpful there. I hope it stays nice.

Happy birthday to your son. Great present. Did he like shooting it?

My kids pitched in and bought me a smith 586 in 38/38+p as a combo b day Christmas present.

We got there on Saturday morning from 9:45, shooting on the 50 yard pistol range for an hour, then the 100-yard rifle range for another hour. Left about 12:10 because I had to have him back at the house at 1:15 for the party, and it's about an hour's drive from our part of Fort Worth to the gun club.

Yep, I joined the first time I went, last month... also at the Platinum level. I figure if I shoot once a month on the rifle range, I break even on the membership. There's no where indoor to shoot rifles over here (NW Fort Worth), except for the Shoot Smart 18 yard private lanes.

He really did seem to have fun, both with his new toy, and with the range. He was like a kid in a candy shop... big smile on his face all the time!

But, he did say that for the prices they charge, they should have a concierge taking care of cleaning your gun for you when you're through shooting. <grin>

MY birthday is in August, and I hope they've got the machine gun by then... :anamatedbanana

LOL... that is great! Glad he had so much fun. I hope they get it before then. I am beginning to think the machine gun was one of those ideas that sounded really cool as the board all sat around the room and discussed incentives to get platinum upgrades. Now the reality of the complications involved has knocked the cool right out of the idea. I bet somebody up there is sweating bullets trying to figure out at what point to tell everyone it isn't going to happen. We will see. I hope I am wrong.
