Re: November waiting
Yeehaw!
I provide this so that some points of process resolution may help someone:
After a minor snag: I had HONESTLY totally forgotten about an incident 40 years ago.. After that first long awaited update, I got a letter from DPS on Jan 17 saying that a "possibly disqualifying arrest" showed up on my record! I was flabergasted and immediately thought there must be some mistake, then I remembered back in 1974 (ah, those were the DAYS!) a week or two after an auto accident in south Texas, being collected by Dallas detectives and taken downtown. I was there for 3 hours. Found out the county where accident occurred simply wanted a total of $75 in fines/fees paid... Fines/fees paid, charges dropped, no litigation/court, no conviction. Arrest still shows up on my record after 40 years! At 18 at the time, 3 hours downtown and after 40 years, this didn't honestly register as an arrest in my brain. I've completed many employment and security background checks over the years and this never came up. BUT this did explain WHY I get delayed (4 business days) on EVERY firearm purchase... No more! Anyway, I had to go downtown and get both County misdemeanor and District felony criminal record search certificates showing "no records found". I e-mail'd these in via website (attaching scanned .jpg's) and also called the DPS CHL RSD # and was patched through to the processor handling my application. I left her a voice mail. She called backa the next day (yesterday) and told me it would save several days if I FAX'd the documents straight to her and gave me her FAX #. Note: I was told twice that any e-mail we send via website goes into one queue and is then sorted and sent to appropriate processor handling the applications and that this might take 3-5 business days. I FAX'd documents to her yesterday.
Today I got the MAGIC update!

Re: November waiting
I just got back from the range where I shot my newly purchased S&W M&P Shield 9mm for the first time...and it shoots VERY sweet! Very nice trigger action (though it's a little lighter than I prefer), handles recoil VERY nicely and shoots VERY accurately. Wished the mag held more than 8 rounds, but that's the price to pay for the slim frame. I highly recommend the Shield.STRONGNUFF wrote:New update this morning to " Mailed" !

I also shot my recently purchased S&W 380 bodyguard (also for the first time)...and was not very impressed. Didn't like the DAO trigger action (hard and unpredictable) and I had 1 failure to fire, 1 stove pipe and 2 failures to load in just 80 rounds fired. I realize the gun is new, but I've never had ANY gun with that many functional problems in only 80 rounds in my life! I may not keep the 380 Bodyguard - right now, I can't depend on it.
** Update: I got rid of the S&W Bodyguard 380 this afternoon...replaced it with a Taurus TCP 380. I like the trigger MUCH better on Taurus - not nearly as long and heavy as the Bodyguard's.
