Pocket carry problem

One option is to have the pocket you want to carry in enlarged. A tailor or seamstress should be able to do this for you rather inexpensively. Another option is, find a brand of jeans with really large pockets. The "Duke" line of jeans sold online by Haband have the largest pockets of any pants I have ever seen. A full size 1911 will go into them and not show - - - printing, now that's another story.

Looser/bigger jeans maybe? I pocket carry an LCR on occasion and haven't had any problems. Your comment about drawing it makes me wonder if some larger jeans might help. I like a loose fit myself and I have no problem gripping the gun while it's still in my pocket --but then I may also have smaller hands. On the rare occasion I felt any concern about visibility of the grip I just put a handkerchief over it.

I've got large hands but up until I got a gun/holster for pocket carry I never cared about pockets as long as a knife would fit in the front left one. I will definitely be shopping around for some of the clothing items mentioned in this thread.

I can't do IWB anywhere. Well, I MIGHT be able to get-away with the small of my back but that seems way too awkward for me. In the Summer I wear almost exclusively cargo shorts which are baggy, but in Winter I wear jeans exclusively and there is no pocket room for me at all with jeans. So my inclination is to want to use a Shoulder Holster and cross-draw my P938, especially since in a TX Winter even if I'm not wearing a jacket I could always wear a loose-fitting long-sleeve shirt to hide the holster.

I have no experience with a shoulder holster but read that folks buy many different kinds before they find one that fits. Are there any shoulder-holster fans in here to comment?

I really like my Galco Jacka** shoulder holster. I can hide my PT92 and 2 spare magazines with just a button down.

I'll say it again, with the right pocket holster anything is possible. All I wear are jeans and all this fits perfect. YMMV but I love the rgrizzle artwork anyway.

Ha! Don't knock the Volvo, I'm a travel nurse and I needed the gas mileage over that of a truck. Anyway, the holster is only about $20 more that some of the knockoffs at gun shows, except there is quite a long wait (about 3 months right now).

Yeah, I know, Volvos are great; it's just that I know a local "girly-man" who has one--no reflection on you!

Rgrizzleleather looks very nice. As a newbie to carrying I'm amazed at how hard it is to surf on holsters. I go in to Cabela's and get dizzy--there's no way to go thru their display racks and find anything or make any decisions.

It's no surprise to me that so many folks say they have drawers-full of holsters as they've tried out so very many of them...

I only have two pocket guns at the moment.......three, when my XDS gets back in a few days. The other two are a PM9 and an M&P340 snubby. I tend to wear loose fitting clothing, and I've never had trouble pocket carrying from a standpoint of fit. The XDS is a bit too heavy for regular pocket carry, but it can be pocket carried.

The very bottom of the snubby's grips can occasionally be seen in a couple of my pants where the pocket is cut at more of an angle, but they don't actually stick out, and it really isn't that noticeable. I always wear my shirts untucked anyway, so they more than adequately cover the "offending" pocket.

I use a Desantis Nemesis for pocket carry, but it's not the perfect solution. After a while, they begin to lose their external "stickiness", and they can have a tendency to come out with the gun. The FIST K5 kydex pocket holster (http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/k1/k5.htm) looks like it would fix that problem. I've just never gotten around to ordering one. I think that Excaliber might own one and says that he likes it. It has the advantage of having a little tab that protrudes out from the holster body that gives your thumb a place to push downward against the holster as you draw the pistol, to make the holster stay in your pocket.
