I actually appreciate that type of sign much more than 30.06 verbiage, when they're hiring off duty officers.

Good article. Maybe it can finally make SAXET's press guy understand why the people they threw to the wolves are not running to their defense now that those wolves are circling SAXET.

I don't like 30.06 on public buildings any more than the next guy, but it's a separate issue. If Sam Biscoe gets away with this today, tomorrow he's going to decide that we "really oughta" not let gun stores sell those assault rifles in the county. Then when he gets away with that, he'll decide that we "really oughta" not allow more than 7 round clips in the county. And then Bexar county will take notice, and Harris, and so on until we wake up one day and realize we're New York.

We were very close to the Legislature putting some teeth into the 30.06 law last session. Maybe Abbott will follow through with that next year.

Although I do wonder why Abbott suddenly got so quiet on this gun show thing, and I'm none too happy about that, either.

Two things come to my mind. First is that he is in full election mode and is not going to rock the boat, possible but not really his style. The second is that there happens to be soon to be pending litigation and he can't discuss it without damaging his case.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

Thank you for the reminder to write Greg Abbott again, to follow up and inquire what action his office is taking against SAXET management and LEO co-conspirators who posted 30.06 signs on government property and threatened to falsely arrest Texas CHL.

Wait... I thought we supported SAXET?
If you're going to complain about those signs, better lump the Austin gun show in there too... And (as I understand it) most of the gun shows in Texas.
I agree that they shouldn't be posted on municipally owned buildings unless there is a legitimate exclusion. My main concern is LEO offices that would choose to enforce on them.

This from TSRA....

Travis County Gun Show Report

Thank you for your calls and email, they just didn't listen!

During the Tuesday meeting, the Travis County Commissioners again refused to offer Saxet Gun Show a new lease on the Expo facility in eastern Travis County.

As before County Judge Biscoe offered a motion to allow Saxet to use the Exposition Hall if all private sales and transfers, not just show vendors, submit to a NICS check. There was no second to his motion. Biscoe's motion died.

County Commissioner Gerald Daugherty offered a motion to give Saxet a lease similar to previous years. There was no second to his motion. This lack of action by the court left the issue pending as before. Todd's contract will simply expire.

This weekend, January 25-26, Saxet Gun Shows will hold their last event in the Travis County Expo Center.

The County appears willing to give up nearly $12,000 a month for a facility used by a limited number of events such as: the ROT Rally (Republic of Texas Biker Rally), the rodeo, and monster trucks.

The attack on this gun show and others is not due to public safety, not due to broken laws or to bad business practices. It's all about feel-good politics.

What Next for Saxet Gun Shows?

Saxet Gun Show requires 35,000 to 40,000 sq. ft., a climate-controlled building with adequate loading docks, and a minimum of 700-1,000 parking places.

Neighboring counties have stepped up but finding the right place for this monthly event won't be an easy task. Everyone is trying to help, so stay tuned!

There is no safety in denial. When seconds count the Police are only minutes away.
Sometimes I really wish a lawyer would chime in and clear things up. Do we have any lawyers on this forum?

Take the show somewhere it's wanted and let the Kalifornia wannabes in Austin join hands and sing "Kumbaya"....or something.

I must say I'm disappointed in TSRA's response. The answer is not to give in and seek a new venue, the answer is to sue Sam Biscoe for violation of the law.

If this stands, I have no doubt Bexar County/San Antonio will try something similar.

Normally, I'd call this an opinionated editorial, but having been to the ROT rally and seen what goes on there, the gun show is a much safer venue...
