Didn't do a wally walk but I did do an academy walk. I actually felt very comfortable carrying, I thought I would be nervous at first but after the first couple minutes I felt just like I do any other day walking around a store, just safer.
Looks like I can finally put the waiting room behind me! Good luck to those stile waiting

Re: October Applications
Does anyone here know the answer to the bolded question regarding the CHL-100?
TomsTXCHL wrote:A few posts up I complained about "no progress" but now I see an update! But the screen has red X's
X Proof of Classroom training : Not received, notice sent to applicant
X Proof of Proficiency training : Not received, notice sent to applicant
I did include with my original application the CHL-100 with Instructor's # and signature, a document that I scanned to a PDF file and sent online.
1. Why might it say this--does the Instructor have to send something to them also, or do they need an Original of the document?
2. The above says "notice sent to applicant" but of course I have no emails from them--should I expect something in the USPS?
Any advice is welcome, thanks.

Just throwing in what I did during the process.
My instructor said that she did not keep/send in any information. I also mailed in the original, but kept a copy of EVERYTHING, just in case. If they allow you to fax documents in, I would assume that a copy would be sufficient. Just my 2 cents.

Application 10/29
"Mailed" last Friday, still nothing here.
Alright, now that I got my rant out of the way:
Tom, I am with cmTexas on this one. Copies are fine, hence scans of your chl-100 are accepted when you email your data on the website.

Re: October Applications
Thanks guys, I had assumed because the website said they could be "emailed" (though actually, meaning their web-based request/doc submittal method) that scanned docs would be OK, but wasn't sure if I could be held-up still by instructor error or something. I'd asked this question before and never got or saw an answer to it (and don't recall discussing submission AT ALL at the CHL class). Honestly I would only very reluctantly send-in the original anyway, not trusting they wouldn't lose it!
I guess I will [try to] contact them by phone about this.

Re: October Applications
Well I've been on under review on my background and fingerprints for a week now. Hurry up!
Re: October Applications
Well, it sounds like Texsanlaura and I both got screwed. she said she called a day or 2 ago and was told to resubmit her documents. I called just a while ago, (multiple tries) and I was told that they could not see any documents submitted before November so I would have to send it in again. I was also told that I would have to start over in line even though I have been waiting since 10/21/13. It sounds like all the people who submitted it multiple ways were the smart ones! The lady at DPS also said that at one point they had over 15,000 emails not to mention the mailed documents. She said they are now at 1,900 and things are starting to normalize. I guess if I deleted all my past due emails I would be caught up as well! So if you submitted your documents before November and have not gotten ANY update, resubmit as soon as you can. If you have an update they have received all the documents. Good Luck all.

Re: October Applications
Tom, one more thing that most folks overlook:
When resubmitting your documents online, after you select your pictures (documents) to upload, you must hit the UPLOAD button before you hit submit. That will (most likely) guarantee that your documents will be saved to the email that you will be sending to the DPS.
I have come across this common issue when I was reading this great forum, and for most people, this is what they needed to do. Hope I could help.

Re: October Applications
According to USPS tracking all documents received in Austin on 10/31...still no updates.
Re: October Applications
They received mine 10/31 also and I received my CHL yesterday. You might want to give them a call if you don't see something soon.txrigger wrote:According to USPS tracking all documents received in Austin on 10/31...still no updates.
Re: October Applications
I am having a very good morning today !!!
The Good News
Yesterday my status changed to "Manufacturing Pending", and this morning it changed to "Mailed".
86 days since mailing my package, and 100 days total. Mail delivery should be quick, I only live 25 miles from Austin.
The Really Good News
I didn't expect to be able to carry this week, and was unsure of the coming weeks.
Tuesday, I had cataract and astigmatism surgery on my left (Dominant) eye. Also a lens implant to correct distance vision.
I expected a week recovery, and my surgeon said my near vision would probably be somewhat worse due to the lens implant.
I am having my right eye done in February, and won't get new reading glasses (which I have been using to shoot for 3 months) until March. That made me unsure whether I would be able to focus on my sights well enough to shoot.
This morning my vision is starting to clear. Strangely, my close vision is better than it's been in 20 years.
I can read business cards and see my gun sights clearly. Hope it stays that way, then I will be able to shoot with no glasses, except for safety glasses.

Re: October Applications
Regarding my missing "Proof of Classroom/Proficiency Training" update:
So I called this morning and got a very nice woman who said she couldn't tell from the record whether the CHL-100 was Incomplete or Missing or had an Error on it, but then she stayed on the phone while I emailed my CHL-100 directly to her personal email address. She said the doc looked good and that she was forwarding it to a supervisor for fixing my record, and to give them 10-15 business days before expecting an update. The phone call, after waiting maybe 10mins, took only a minute or two and I would rate the DPS person's handling of my call as Excellent.
It does cause me to wonder-if-not-believe that my improper (this UPLOAD button thing) first submission was grabbed-and-acted-upon by a DPS rep and the subsequent one with the CHL-100 two days later either hadn't been gotten-to or otherwise was ignored by them. This might be the root cause of a lot of these submission problems.
JR I had indeed made the "upload" mistake (10/6) that probably everyone makes (!) but corrected it two days later (10/8) when a DPS email said "you didn't Upload anything".JR's 12 Valve wrote:Tom, one more thing that most folks overlook:

Re: October Applications
How long does it usually take after the first update. Everything is complete but fingerprints and background "under review". It's been about 8-9 days now.
