Universal Cry for help for nearby CHLs

#1

Post by Kensterfly »

A post in another thread got me to thinking. If you were in a large crowd situation (parade, street fair, pre-game tailgating, Saturday afternoon WalMart parking lot) and trouble came your way, wouldn't it be nice to yell out a verbal signal that would bring other CHL holders running to assist you?

Sort of like the Highlanders of Scotland once used: "A Douglas!! A Douglas!! and the whole clan would come rushing into the glen, claymores drawn. A similar number of responders might be the result in Texas!

One board member said his instructor suggested yelling "CHL!!! CHL!!" You'd need something that would easily be heard and understood by the CHL community.
Maybe a simple Carry! Carry! Carry! Of course, the word would have to get out throughout the land for this to work.

Just wondering.

Very bad idea, IMO. What is the point of having a concealed handgun and then yelling out loud that you have a concealed handgun?

Many would let you fin for yourself. Most don't want to get involved and want to avoid any liability. Can't count on your fellow man now days. One of the reasons you carry is so you can handle situations yourself without help from others.

I think that if you were in desperate need for help, the general call "help" or "call 911" to be your best bet. If were in a situation where I needed immediate assistance, I wouldn't care if that assistance came from a CHL'er or not.

Another tradition for calling the clan together, which never really caught on here, well, for a little while anyway, was to light a signal fire, usually in the form of a cross to define it from just a plain old fire.
