PSC Ladies' Shoot

#1

Post by Just_Me »

I went to the PSC ladies' shoot today for the first time and enjoyed it tremendously. Thank you Sharon and Mary. I had a great time and will go again. Thank you, Sharon, for letting me fire your 1911. "WOW" is all I can say! Another lady let me fire her H & K. LOVED IT! Guess I better start a rat hole for a new gun. (or 2!)

Longtooth, thanks!

I'm glad you posted, because I've been wanting to tell you something. I read everyone's signature line, and couldn't quite figure out what yours meant, until I was telling it to my husband the other night. As I was saying it out loud to him, it came to me. Now that I fugured it out, I feel really stupid for not getting it the first time.

Thanks for your support!

Thank you Maam. It is all about every one of us learning something new each day. This place teaches us old hands a lot too. Dont feel stupid. Getting your CHL proves you are not. ;-)

Just wanted to welcome you to the forum. I've learned a lot here, and I think you will too if you stick around.

I like PSC. I'm too far from it to make it my regular range. (Gas prices & travel time would be a killer.) It's a good range, though.

I'll be bringing my girlfriend out for Forum Day in at PSC September. I don't really know any lady shooters, so it will be good for her to meet some of you.

I'm glad she's coming. She'll enjoy it and learn a lot.

My wife enjoys this event, but missed June because we were out of town. She has learned a lot from the instructors and participants, alike. The club has some .22 pistols for those that do not have their own shootin' iron. Particpants range from teens to seniors, rank beginners to IDPA match veterans. My wife was encouraged by these classes to participate in the club IDPA matches.

Regarding helping out, the rule seems to be, "No men allowed". It is true, except when they needed my truck to haul some chairs. Once unloaded, they shooed me off. No problems, I head off to one of the other pistol bays and practice too.

Greetings--

Robin wanted to know-- is this an IDPA shoot, by the book or just some shooting and yacking ? She just likes to shoot ! She doesnt care for all the rules and the "vest thingies". I suggested that she use a nitie or somthing similar as cover...*shrugs*

We expect to be around HOU that weekend and planned to stop by. I guess us guys get to sit in the shade somewhere eh ?

Piney,

The ladie's program is not a match, more like hands-on seminars. From the stories my wife tells, the instructors have a wide variety of subjects - basic safety and trigger control, advanced shooting skills, discussions on equipment and safety in the real world. This program promotes shooting as an enjoyable activity. Some ladies stick with .22s or go to centerfire pistols. Later, some ladies have chosen to participate in matches, or go for CHL.

If you are a member of PSC, you can shoot at any of the other ranges while the ladies are working. That's what I normally do.

PSC Ladies Class

#14

Post by CompVest »

Our class agenda always covers basic gun safety, sights, grip/stance, and drawing from a holster. After that we try to target a specific skill or topic.

July's topic was a poker shoot. We had two ladies shoot a Royal Flush. Awesome. August we plan on exploring "the thinking gunwoman"!

Our goal is to have an integrated class of novice to advanced shooters. We want women to feel comfortable with guns and their ability to use one.

 Was a lady at my nail salon who just got scared. Told her about PSC ladies class.

I was at very first ladies class. I get more self confidence by practicing with women ONLY.

It's educational, safe, and fun!!

My 25 year old son thinks Mom is safe now, going to Mall and Macy's.
