Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Laws on Gun Control

An interesting article that talks about how some sheriffs simply refuse to enforce gun control laws or "benignly" say it's not a high priority for them. What's interesting to me is how the writer completely missed the most obvious connection.
Sheriff Cooke, for his part, said that he was entitled to use discretion in enforcement, especially when he believed the laws were wrong or unenforceable.
Sounds just like Obama, doesn't it? Yet the media never points that out or thinks it's a bad thing.

At any rate, if the apocalypse comes, the place to be will be in the rural areas, where law enforcement is less beholden to liberal dictates.

I think there is a difference between not enforcing the law as Obama is doing with immigration and Obama ordering businesses to disobey the law.

Obama is the chief law enforcement agent. He can ignore laws in his enforcement and order his employees to do the same. (we are too busy with other important things) However, a police chief to me cannot order, businesses to violate the law. Or to say certain people are exempt from a tax, while others still are.

While I'm glad for any tacit support of gun rights in the NY, the history is exact the opposite of what Sheiff Cook suggests. Otherwise law abiding citizens who run afoul of NY's draconian gun laws end up with the full weight of prosecution while a punk/gangbanger with a long wrap sheet seems to skate on a similar offense.

The fact is that law enforcement doesn't have anywhere near enough manpower to enforce all of the laws so priorities are already set and some of the laws are enforced more vigorously or much more vigorously than others. Prostitution has always been one of those that seemed to receive only periodic emphasis. It would be great if the collective Sheriffs would simply forget that the round limits and large magazine bans exist but I wouldn't expect it to last past the first wave of political pressure. I hope that I'm wrong.

Sooner or later all "infantry" gun-limitation on types and characteristic of guns (other than disarming felons and mentally-disable persons), would be proven unconstitutional.
