11/18 Email saying CHL docs were received and had been forwarded to "CHL specialist".

Status as of 11/30:

"License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page."
I remember how painful the waiting game was. But before you know it you will be applying for your renewal. Can't believe it's been 6 years since I left the "waiting room". Take the time to practice carrying in your home. Try out different holsters and different carry positions.
Oh, welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the nice welcome. I've been carrying for 10 years, so it's not my first rodeo, just my first Texas rodeo. :cheers2:

I'll add to/edit my post with text and dates when something changes, just to give others a little better idea of exactly what to expect and when.

Mailed my wife's and son's paperwork off at the end of October. The paperwork has yet to show up as having been received in Austin, only the online application is there. The end of December will be 60 days. I wonder what the hold up is? From my own experience I know it takes awhile to see online progress but I'd thought there should be something by now.

Guess I'll chime in too...

Online application - 9/28/13
Fingerprints - 10/3/13
CHL Course - 11/9/13
Online submission - 11/11/13

On the 11/18/13 I received an email from DPS saying "We have received the documents attached to your email. This information will be forwarded to a CHL Specialist for review and processing."

My status still says they're waiting on the documents, and I suspect it will stay that way until they've gotten time input all the information and everything.

I'm estimating I'll receive my CHL sometime between 12/23/13 and 1/13/14, but I don't know how good of an estimation that is. At least I'm not alone in the waiting! To bide the time I've been practicing carrying around my house.

Bad estimate, you won't get anything until end of Jan.

After the 60th day, I would call them just to be on the safe side. While it may not make any difference in the time you receive the plastic, it will at least ease your mind. You may even get an update on what time period they are currently processing.

Oct. 9 is when I mailed all my documents in. USPS said they got it Oct. 11. I am currently in manufacture waiting. I would call them and find out what is going on.

New waiting room member here. Been waiting for a month and 10 days. Going to call in the morning to see what the hold up is

I was about to mail in my application and everything via snail mail, but I heard the online thing was much faster. So I did that, and the next day my application was processed, but, I didn't have a scanner, so I had to mail in my CHL-100 and barcode in via USPS. Should've went to a computer store.

Unless you mailed your stuff before Oct. 12/13 there's no point in calling.
