[quote="solaritx"]Have you had other people try and shoot it as well and get FTE???

My son in law has shot it quite a bit with a few FTEs. But, he shot it today for his CHL qualification, 50 rounds of practice and 50 rounds for the test and had a perfect score with no failures. It seems to be a bit finicky and likes to be super clean and well lubed.

This guy uses/used a Galco holster for his STI Guardian. http://www.glocktalk.com/forums/showthr ... p=13819057
Link doesn't work since I'm not a member. Can someone help me out with what model holster?

It's a slightly shorter than Commander length slide with an Officer's length grip. I was told it will fit any Commander sized holster.
I saw one for the first time in person today. What a beauty, and it feels amazing in my hands. The trigger is fantastic as well, however, I also looked at the Ranger II (full size) 1911 from STI, and that trigger felt slightly better.

I can get it for $999, but all the places in Dallas and Houston I've checked are asking $1100 which is MSRP.

Does anyone here own this gun? Or anyone with experience care to comment?
Any thoughts or comments welcome.

I know several people who have STIs for competition. They love them. I've not heard anything bad about them on the intranetzz either. If you have the means and the impulse I'd go for it. Plus they are a Round Rock Texas company. Buy local!

STI is a great company. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if I had the money and found one available.

I have one in .45 and the first 200 rounds had some issues but I never give up on a gun until aftr 300-400 rounds of break in. I also wont carry one until that many rounds with no problems.
After about 100 rounds the problems got less and less and at the 200 round mark I had 0 ssues and have had none since in about 2k rounds.

The key is to kep it clean. It is a tighter fit than a GI 1911 and can have issues if not cleaned.

Now it is one of my dependable carry weapons
