After the losses in Colorado on the State recalls, some of which was attributed to a voter revolt against the "outside money", Mayor Bloomy is at it again in VA

New York City Mayor MichaelR. Bloomberg, who for years has blamed Virginia and its gun laws for helping funnel criminals’ firearms into New York City, wants to have a say in who becomes the commonwealth’s next governor.

According to news reports this morning, McAuliffe is up by 17 points. While I understand that this is a multi-issue race, gun rights seem to be at the forefront - and on the loosing side. Could VA follow CT, NY and CO with new State gun control with a McAuliffe victory?

There is a spoiler in VA. Sarvis. A third party candidate that is sucking 10% of the vote. Additionally Cuchinelli did an unwise thing and instead of mobilizing VA local politics ( tea party types) he snubbed them and went with Washington elite advisors and then ran from himself the entire political season. That and he is being outspent something like 2:1. Virginia will likely be ok as our legislature is red. What we will get is 4 years of gridlock. The last two D governors did very unpopular things. Then McConnell was elected and then this Jan the D's smeared him, loudly and for an extended period of time. Some of that bled over to Ken. It stinks. But I am going to the polls and so are me parents and my sibling to vote for Cuchinelli. It ain't over till it is over.

We had that problem in TX, too. The establishment GOP seems to hate the Tea Party worst than the Dems do. I guess because the TP poses a threat to their good ol' boy power structure. The last Senatoral race was won resoundingly by the TP (ever hear of Ted Cruz?) But the the grass roots activism that the TP brings that is winning a lot of local elections is ignored.

Do you think that gun rights/gun control is a big swinger in the VA election? Outsiders are playing it to be but, as happened in CO, maybe after the fact and a loss, it will be about something else. Let's hope that the good people of VA override the huddled masses in Richmond, etc that rubber stamp whatever Dem is running and don't give Mayor Bloomy a victory. It will only encourage him to do this again elsewhere.

Gun rights are huge in VA....outside the cities. That is part of the problem. Sarvis is big on gun rights and marijuana and little else. But that is enough to siphon off some very important votes from Cooch. McAwful is winning in the cities, mostly by saying lies like "Ken Cuchinelli is against birth control" which is a lie...he is against abortion in all cases except the life of the mother, but that hardly seems to matter.

McAwful is a carpet bagging.......you fill in the blank. He has come to VA with a bull-horn and bag of lies and deceit. Sarvis is a cricket but between the two Ken has had a hard time getting his message out.

I tell you guys what though. If VA goes the way of CO expect there to be refugees coming to TX from the ravages of liberalism. Many of us on the Virginia Gun Owners Forum are considering our options if we can't road block McAwful in the legislature. TX is the state primarily mentioned as a place of refuge. I don't like the heat in TX, but that is what the AC is for right?

We would love to have you in Texas. And yes, the AC does make things bearable here. :biggrinjester:
