Got this email today, thought I'd pass around what's goin on out there.
Rick Perry: Review Texas Stand Your Ground Law
By Shirlanne Alexander-Gay
Houston, Texas
Sign Shirlanne's Petition
I'm calling on Rick Perry to conduct a review of the state's Stand Your Ground law.
Calling for 'Stand Your Ground' laws to be reviewed is a bipartisan effort. President Obama spoke out on the need for review, and prominent Republicans like Senator John McCain have joined him.
'Stand Your Ground' was never meant to give aggressors the opportunity to get away with murder, but unfortunately that is sometimes the case. And after Trayvon Martin's death, even former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who signed into law the first Stand Your Ground bill in the country, said: "Stand your ground' means 'stand your ground.' It doesn't mean 'chase after somebody who's turned their back.'"
Texas should at least conduct a review and evaluation of our state's Stand Your Ground law.

Re: Change.org email
Is there by chance a place to sign AGAINST such a petition? This is just more of the PC, Liberty-destroying, Marxist claptrap we can't seem to get away from these days. My (and your) basic human rights include the right to protect ourselves. "Stand your ground" laws simply codify that, unless I have missed something truly sinister along the way.

Well Shirlanne, pick any or all that apply:
1. How big a boy are you?
2. You're gonna need a bigger boat.
3. Pack a lunch.
4. You & what army?
5. Don't let the door hit ya.....

I think reviewing stand your ground is probably one of the last things on Rick's mind these days.

Urban youth are taught that nothing is more important than being feared and respected. Lethal force in self defense can only be used when in fear of life, your own or another's and to protect property. So to them, stand your ground and the entire concept of self defense is inherently racist.

Re: Change.org email
Texas Law does not say the words "Stand Your Ground" Like Florida law apparentley does : I havent read the Florida Penal code.
I have read and Teach the Tx PC and it plainly says 'You are not required to Retreat'
Whole lots of difference between the 2 I think
It sure sounds a lot better in Texas
