Comic Relief: Gun Show 30.06 Sign?

#1

Post by EdWeird »

I went to a gun show in the Event Center near the Freeman Coliseum, San Antonio. One the way in, there was a sign that read, "No loaded firearms" and in smaller lettering it continued, "this includes CHLs." I looked all around and saw no proper 30.06 signs, so I paid my money and kept walking, smiling on the inside. As I walked around, I saw properly-worded 30.06 signs in the back corder of the Event Center. They were propped up against the wall, on top of a table with bags and such partially blocking the words.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud as I walked on by. My son asked me what was so funny. I told him he wouldn't understand. :anamatedbanana

Dallas Market Hall show had the same thing (signs outside that weren't even close to 30.06 language). I didn't see any of the proper signs on the inside.

Who owns the events center? If it's the city, the sign shouldn't be posted, but there is nothing prohibiting the promoter from posting an unenforceable sign.
30.06 at gun shows appears to be the norm in the last year.
Last time I went, I inquired with the LEOs at the door - they said they wouldn't be enforcing. Your Mileage May Vary.

Not sure. The Show was in the Event Center behind the Freeman. It would stand to reason that it is owned by Bexar County, just like the Freeman, but I just don't know.

I forgot to mention, they did have someone out front asking everyone if they had any firearms. I just shook my head no and kept walking.
