Smallest, Lightest, & Most Concealable Double Stack 9mm's?
Ok - This Motorcycle Gang vs RR situation, along with active shooter awareness posting, has renewed my interest in considering to resume carry of my Glock 26 vs Kahr PM9 much more often. I may even start carrying it with extended 15 + 1 rounds (instead of typical flush 10+1 option) readily loaded much more frequently than my PM9 or P380 pocket carries w/6+1!
Here's the question. Through IWB carry in most clothing options of t-shirt & cargo shorts / jeans or more, what are the most comfortable, concealable, & lightest-weight (very important to me) options for carrying 15+1 rounds loaded (not including extra magazines)? Am I pretty much at the "as good as it gets" point with a Glock 26 w/extended G19 magazine loaded? Or are there potentially better options out there? The SA XD subcompact options are a bit squarer and I believe heavier in design so I'm thinking they may not be as comfortable.
Thoughts?

Three leading candidates.
Springfield XD Sub Compact
S&W M&P C
Glock 26/27
I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.

I have a Ruger SR9c stainless that came with a 10rd mag for concealed carry and an extended 17rd mag and I love it. I've shot about 500 rounds through it without a hiccup. Some folks don't like the manual safety and the mag disconnect safety on it but they never bothered me.

I have the same gun. Small enough for my wife, but I can grip it with the extended mag. Has safety, chambered indicator...

What I carry, Beretta PX4SC.
Magazines are 13 rds, 17 rds, and 20 rds. Grip extension works on the last two.

Ditto this. A fine subcompact pistol with impressive capacity. I carry mine with the 13 round mag in it, and a 17 round PX4 mag with a x-grip adapter on it as a spare.

I carry a SA XDm 9 Compact (3.8"). Magazines are either 13+1 (flush) or 19 + 1 (extended with grip extension). I very seldom carry the extended mags. I wear that pistol almost everywhere (including church thanks to some good coaching from this site). If I wear shorts and a tshirt, I most often use my TactiPac Fusion holster. For everything else, ComTac MTAC.

I've never heard anyone say anything bad about the Ruger SR9c.TXRuger wrote:I have a Ruger SR9c stainless that came with a 10rd mag for concealed carry and an extended 17rd mag and I love it. Alternatively, both Springfield and S&W pistols can also use their full size mags. Springfield has a mag with grip extension as standard issue, and you can order same for the M&P (well, before the Great Obama Freakout II you could). I think this is a great option myself with the smaller mag for carry and a full size backup mag.

Just for grins, I weighed our handguns on an accurate scale:
- M&P9c (12 round mag w/finger rest, one in the pipe, pocket lint) - 1 lb 15.2 oz
M&P 22 (12 round mag, one in the pipe, Streamlight TLR-4 light/laser) - 1 lb 10.8 oz
Sig P238 (7 round mag, no finger rest, one in the pipe) - 1 lb 1.1 oz
Ruger SR40 (15 round mag, one in the pipe, light) - 2 lb 6.3 oz

I carry a Glock 26 with a 30rd magazine. When my shirts untucked it just looks like a tomahawk.

I use my Glock 17 mags as back up when carrying my G19.

Re: Smallest, Lightest, & Most Concealable Double Stack 9mm'
The grip is the hardest part to conceal. I have an M&Pc 40 It's a little too big for pocket carry and with a 15 round magazine in it instead of the 10 round mag that comes with it I may as well be carrying a full size. So, the M&Pc rides in the same holsters as her big brothers and I carry 3 reloads instead of 2. I come out five rounds less than the full size with 2 reloads. I have two grip adapters for the 15 round mags but find the four ten rounders are good to go.

I have Pierce +2 adaptors on my G 19 mags. They will work on G 17 mags too.Pecos wrote:I use my Glock 17 mags as back up when carrying my G19.
